Just back from a two night break, excellent location for the quayside and shopping. Room had been recently done up with new carpets and the bed was very comfortable, fresh towels and tea and coffee every day. Good breakfast as well. Staff all very pleasant and friendly. Quirky lift from the 1920's. Will definitely stay again.

Excellent location, room was ok, the bed was comfortable - but the heat was unbearable in the room, despite the heating being off. Our fan did not work, but the hotel replaced it very quickly. Staff were very nice. Lift was interesting, it is from the 1920's - looked quaint - but very difficult to use - so the stairs...

Good price and central. Needs wee bit TLC in places. Staff are nice and breakfast was yum. I would come back as it was worth it. Liked the locals and the night life was great. Shopping was good too. Lots of things to do.

Paid 74 quid which was OK I thought and I loved the quirky lift from 1923 ! Maybe I was lucky to get 232, one of the four rooms along a labyrinthine set of corridors that needed its own code after 10pm - so quiet and overlooking front. Tuesday night so not the weekend madness that descends on the Toon...

Booked this hotel based on price and proximity to Metro Arena. Hotel is a little tired, we stayed in room 27 there was a punch mark on the interior of the bathroom door. The room was clean and provided all we needed for an overnight stay, toiletries, hair dryer, iron, tea & coffee. Wifi was okay, room was cosy. A...

Have just spent two nights on a Groupon Deal which was exceptional value. On arrival we were greeted by a very pleasant receptionist. The full english breakfast we had was nicely cooked and tasty and there was plenty of toast tea coffee cereals etc. I had noticed comments regarding the lack of double glazing. Although our room overlooked the railway...

after I had booked this hotel I received an email saying the rooms didn't have double glazing. I would not have booked if I had known this at the time of booking because being in the centre of a city I imagine this would have been noisy...and it was! You could hear every car drive past as if it was...

Read reviews of this hotel before we stayed and it seems the hotel has done nothing to improve on any of the criticisms. Lift broken and had to drag bags up to 3rd floor, staff didn't seem to care about this and didn't apologise. Staff very unfriendly and unhelpful. They almost seem offended and interrupted when you approach reception. While...

Stayed here for two nights with my partner on a groupon deal. The location was brilliant near quay, railway station and town. The hotel is over a micro brewery and the access is round the back, which we didn't find a problem. On entry the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The lift may pose a problem to some...
