We had a room overlooking the river which was worth the extra few pounds. The bed was comfortable, the toiletries to quality and the towels were luxurious. Friendly service from the front desk. The bar is a little dark, it is a shame they didn't make use of the view and position it at the front. Definitely using this hotel... More

I stayed at this hotel for one night. The room was comfortable and stylish. The decor was tasteful and a pleasant change from the white walls and navy carpets of a lot of hotels. The room was a good size and had all amenities. The hotel itself is an attractive building and very convenient for the Law Courts. It has... More

We loved this hotel with its fabulous position overlooking the River Tyne. The rooms were luxurious and the view fabulous, although this does come at an additional cost it is well worth it. Fantastic place to stay when attending an event at either the Sage or the Baltic or just a great night out in amazing Newcastle.

I spent one night here after a concert at the Sage. Perfectly located just a stroll away across the Millennium Bridge. Very comfortable bedroom to the side of the hotel but high enough to look over the adjacent building and see the Sage and bridges. Good breakfast with freshly cooked scrambled eggs. Friendly service and a reasonable room rate as... More

The room was perfect for what we needed for our 3 month old baby. This was our first trip away and wanted to ensure we had what we needed and we definitely got that. The room had lots of space and when we needed anything the staff were very helpful.

My wife and I recently had dinner at the Malmaison. Admittedly we were on the budget menu but the main course we selected (Venison Burger) was inedible. It was tough and cold, and the bun was tough. We sent both meals back expecting a newly cooked burger only to have the same returned about 10 mins later. I don't know... More

Dear Stuart L, Firstly, thank you for taking the time to write your review. I’m really sorry to read that you found the Venison burger to be a let-down to your experience and that you had an issue with this dish on both the original and the replacement meal. Stayed here for 2 nights before and after the Great North run. The staff were great at reception, very helpful and attentive. The breakfast was fantastic. They opened it early on the morning of the run and served porridge. Our room was OK, comfy bed but decor quite tired and curtains in desperate need of replacing. Although we couldn't fault... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fog on the Tyne? Let's hope not. Otherwise you'll miss the great view of the Tyne Bridge you get from our hotel in Newcastle city centre. But then, when you're staying at Malmaison Newcastle, it's the views on the inside that tell you your boat's come in. While you're right at the heart of Newcastle's great shops and exciting nightlife, the lure of MALBAR's legendary cocktails and the Mal Brasserie's classic dishes with a twist is pretty strong. And who wants to spend all night out on the town when one hotel in Newcastle has a whole floor with a shipbuilding theme and bathtubs you could sink a battleship in? It could only be the Newcastle Mal. ... more   less
