My friend and I ate at the Keelmans recently and it was very unimpressive! Both our meals were poorly presented, even for an average pub lunch, and her ham and my beef were both tasteless and chewy. The head service guy was also more than a little brusque in his manner. We won't be returning.

we had just walked the second last day of Hadrians wall , we arrived around mid afternoon to a beautiful country pub setting , was greeted by a very polite energetic young manager, who is a credit to the "Keelman" another gem found i think the rooms were clean and tidy with decent tea and coffee facilities nice ensuits with...

the room is quite large and has all amenities, staff is friendly but the mattress and pillows are kind of hard. The food at the pub is very good with many choices. If you drive, parking is easy on site. Breakfast was complete and well done.

We live locally, and have visited the Keelman's Lodge many times for drinks and meals. It's a lovely stone building with a brewery attached, in it's own grounds overlooking the rural part of the river Tyne so it has an idyllic setting. The Keelman has a separate bar and serves a good selection of ales from it's own Big Lamp...

We walked Hadrians Wall in beautiful sunshine carrying all our camping equipment. Foot sore and weary we arrived late on Friday night to a warm welcome comfortable accommodation and good food. Staff were helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The place had a real buzz and was clearly patronised by local people too. A great stop and set us up...

Stayed here as our first stop on our East-to-West Hadrian's Wall walk. Close to the path (150m?). What a welcome stop after the walk to be greeted by a pub with so many great ales brewed onsite. Our room was spacious and clean but as others have noted could use some updated decor. It reminded me of a dated motel,...

We stayed here whilst walking Hadrian's wall, it is right on the trail and so great for walkers. The rooms are basic, clean and comfortable but the decor is somewhat outdated. They are perfectly fine for one night as somewhere to rest your head. Food is good pub grub and breakfasts are OK but nothing special. However as real ale...

Fabulous bar and meals. Recommend you book a table if you stay here as the food is fabulous. The rooms are okay maybe a little outdated now. The beds have a comforter rather than a duvet. To be honest I don't believe that is hygienic as no one washes them each time a new person arrives. The pillows were hard...

Just returned from five days at the Keelmans / Big Lamp Brewery Newburn, what a great venue. We were a group of twelve golfers playing golf at various course's and using Keelmans Lodge as our main base, what a great place to stay, the rooms have all that you need, very clean, bath/shower, comfortable beds, flat screen TV, and Tea...
