I have never stayed over at jesmond dene but I have had several family outings for meals and afternoon teas here. The restaurant is brilliant it's pricey but worth it. The staff were fabulous when I went for my birthday with a friend, I wasn't a massive wine lover but they were very good in helping me find a wine...

The hotel has some of the best service I've experienced. Quiet, efficient, intelligent. Lovely breakfast with fresh fruit and local produce like Craster kippers. The rooms are not huge, but very comfy, if very slightly tired. The setting is surprisingly quiet in Jesmond Dene, which is very close to the centre. Lots of parking.

Stayed in the New House at Jesmond Dene House and the room was absolutely amazing! Partner and I stayed for our anniversary and felt relaxed and comfortable. The building is historic but with a modern twist to the interior which is very fun. Room was spacious with an incredibly large bed and a perfect bathroom - large tub and glass...

First and foremost, the staff at Jesmond Dene House were absolutely wonderful - attentive, and thoughtful. The food and restaurant waiting staff were also brilliant. Being lactose intolerant this can often be a struggle, but this was dealt with complete ease - the staff were kind and thoughtful, and all food was cooked to perfection. The area of Jesmond is...

I travel a lot with work and always look for a hotel with a difference to the usual corporate style This is a great hotel with super friendly staff & great public areas which are comfortable, beautifully decorated and display local art. My bedroom(11) had a balcony, very comfortable bed & filtered coffee. It was beautifully decorated. Its definitely 4/5...

We went for a Birthday lunch on Sunday, and the food, service and setting are lovely. They manage to find a nice balance between refined, delicate presentation and robust hearty food. My starter was a good example; a nice heap of roughly chunked smoked mackerel pate with cornichons on sourdough, garnished with pea shoots. Their pastry chef is a bloody...

We stayed in the Noble Suite which was absolutely stunning. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal in the restaurant in the evening, we had the taster menu with matching wines. The food was exceptional, beautifully presented and very tasty. The service from the staff was also first class, every single member of the team at Jesmond Dene House made us feel very...

This is a beautiful hotel in a lovely inner city 'dene gardens' setting. The service and staff responsiveness was outstanding. The room we were in was immaculate and very, very peaceful. 5 minute drive from centre of Newcastle, everything from the bar service, room service and restaurant was all top notch making this probably the best 4 star inner city...

I didn't really know what to expect when we ate at jesmond dean house but we were very impressed! The staffs were very friendly and the service was amazing - you don't see service like that very often! The food was really good! Though not cheap it was worth every penny. The atmosphere was lovely, relaxed and intimate, and the...

We have stayed at this hotel several times on business and for pleasure. It has been relatively good in the past but this stay was not. To be fair I will say upfront that I raised these issues on checkout and the management knocked 50% off the accommodation (not dinner) charges. However, I want to raise the issues I experienced...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A grand house with contemporary style, a leafy setting near the heart of the city. Jesmond Dene House is neither a townhouse nor a country house hotel. It's simply 40 well-designed bedrooms and suites in a richly historic building offering understated luxury and rather good food. Overlooking the wooded valley of Jesmond Dene, the privately owned hotel guarantees peace, escapism and a refreshing change. Newcastle's city centre, however, is only a five-minute drive. The hotel recently received 4 red stars and the AA Hotel of the Year 2008-2009. ... more   less
