This is a lovely hotel in a great location. It is a busy place with a wedding on each of the 3 nights we stayed. The rooms are nice with lots of extras that add a little extra and kind of make up for the small size of the room. The beds are hard, for me, and I did have...

My mum chose to celebrate her 70th birthday back in her home town of Newcastle and we decided to stay at Jesmond Dene House for our visit. We enjoyed the most perfect experience. The hotel is really well located in Jesmond, very close to Gosforth and only a short drive from Newcastle city centre. The Metro is a short walk...

We have stayed here on numerous occasions. Have tried other hotels in Newcastle closer to the river and the toon but never enjoyed them as much. The Jesmond Dene is very much tried and tested. Lovely clean rooms, comfortable beds, fabulous setting, easy taxi journey if you are not driving. Enjoyable walks in the Dene. Fantastic breakfast and afternoon teas....

We stayed here for our first wedding anniversary having got married at JDH. The whole experience was amazing. The hotel organised champagne for us and our room was just beautiful. The rooms here are fabulous and this is definitely the best hotel in Newcastle.

We visited Jesmond Dene House for our 10th wedding anniversary. It's not far from where we live but fancied a special night away. We were very lucky and our room was upgraded to a junior suite which was huge and fab! There was a lovely anniversary card which was such a lovely touch. Our room was in a new building,...

This is a delightful hotel. With its relaxed and informal atmosphere, friendly staff, comfortable and stylish rooms, exquisite food, gorgeous garden and secluded location, this is a great place to stay. Of historic interest too, and very peaceful and nurturing.

We stayed last night as part of my retirement celebrations. From the moment of arriving to the check out this morning there was nothing that could be criticised. The hotel is in a quiet area, the gardens surrounding are a delight. For a 19th Century building it is superb. The rooms are of a very high standard with all of...

Very pleasantly surprised to find such a lovely hotel, I've stayed in hotels in Newcastle with higher trip advisor ratings but found them very much lacking. I'd stay at Jesmond Dene House again if I was in the area without hesitation. Lovely rooms, ours had a beautiful view over the garden. Super clean, and lovely staff. The restaurant was great,...

We recently stayed for one night in room 11 for an anniversary treat. The room was beautiful! We had a roof top terrace which was absolutely fabulous a real added bonus! Whilst sitting outside a card was left in our room to wish us a happy anniversary which was also a lovely touch! We had afternoon tea which was superb!...

Attended a wedding , which was fantastic and well organised . The mistake we made was staying over when we just live local . The rooms are situated over the great hall where the party was which didn't matter as we went to bed late , The bed was rock hard , pillows thin and the room was boiling hot...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A grand house with contemporary style, a leafy setting near the heart of the city. Jesmond Dene House is neither a townhouse nor a country house hotel. It's simply 40 well-designed bedrooms and suites in a richly historic building offering understated luxury and rather good food. Overlooking the wooded valley of Jesmond Dene, the privately owned hotel guarantees peace, escapism and a refreshing change. Newcastle's city centre, however, is only a five-minute drive. The hotel recently received 4 red stars and the AA Hotel of the Year 2008-2009. ... more   less
