The Crowne Plaza Newcastle - Stephenson Quarter is often celebrated for its spotless rooms and top-notch facilities. While some guests find the atmosphere inviting, others have encountered noise disturbances which detract from the hotel's otherwise tranquil ambiance. The rooms are typically regarded as spacious and well-appointed, though noise can be an issue for some. Service at the hotel consistently receives accolades for its friendly and efficient staff. Its location is convenient for exploring the city, and the amenities, including a modern gym and luxurious spa, are frequently highlighted by guests. However, opinions on the hotel's value for money are mixed, with some guests questioning the cost of extras.

We stayed at this hotel for one night while attending an event at the Utilita Arena, seeking a convenient overnight location. The hotel is ideally situated, just a 10-minute walk from the arena, and centrally located near the station, supermarkets, and restaurants. The hotel itself is lovely and modern, with a gym and spa available, although we didn't use these facilities during our stay.

Our room (Standard Queen Room) was very spacious with a comfortable bed, and it was impeccably clean with a pleasant fragrance upon entry. The bathroom was well-equipped with all the expected amenities. The room also featured a fridge with complimentary still and sparkling water, as well as tea and coffee, and included an ironing board, iron, hairdryer, and safe. The only downside was that the walls were quite thin, allowing us to hear our neighbors and the noise from people in the corridor coming and going.

Breakfast was satisfactory, offering plenty of choices, though it didn't necessarily stand out compared to other hotel breakfasts - it was adequate for the price we paid and typical of a city center hotel. We arrived for breakfast around 8:30 and were seated immediately, but by 9:30, there was quite a long queue to be seated, so I would recommend going a little earlier if you can. The hotel provides a luggage room for storage if you want to go out prior to checking in/after checking out. Overall, a really lovely hotel in a super location and with great facilities.

Very good location for the City centre.
Parking excellent next to the hotel.
Staying for 4 nights at the Crowne Plaza Newcastle, the last 2 nights we have been in the club lounge, the server Sally has been excellent, very professional and friendly, always ensuring that we had our drinks replenished when we had finished, food was very good, good selection of food. 2 hot choices and also salad an sandwiches
And a selection of fruit and desert items
One of the best Crowne Plaza club lounges we have been in. Looking forward to our next 2 nights here in Newcastle, we will definitely return

Lovely hotel, ideally placed in Newcastle Quayside, modern, lovely Gin bar and lobby, rooms clean and comfortable, breakfast catered for Gluten Free (toast, cereal), parking easy next door - direct access to hotel on floor 10, reasonable overnight rates, secure. Lucky with the weather and we spent an afternoon out at Tynemouth which was easily accessible on a 20min metro. Would definitely return, thank you.

Requested feather pillows and did not recieve, the pillows were too soft and we had a bad night's sleep. The room stated soundproofing but the noise of other guests talking in the other room was a problem in the early hours and doors slamming frequently was not ideal. Train line noise and low level humming also impacted our sleep. I requested a quiet room and i know this cant always be met but still left dissapointed. The room looked lovely however the toilet seat was stained on the back slightly and was wobbly which we reported to reception and the shower head was not screwed tightly so water was leaking from the attachment. The shower also had a nozzle piece missing so didn't scream four star. The shower drain was slow draining so had to be quick otherwise risk of water coming out the tray onto the floor. This might explain the silicone being stained in areas. I reported both but as it was a one night stay nothing was done. We only recieved one bath towel and one hand towel which was a shame as i would of expected two? Breakfast was not top quality, lovely selection but the full English items were in hot pans and had overcooked and the bacon and black pudding was tough and inedible for me personally. I wouldn't visit again as other hotels in the area were cheaper but as advertised it had a more classy feel. Unfortunately it didn't deliver.

We stayed two nights, for a birthday celebration and Arena show and I think this location doesn’t live up to the brand expected standards at all. On arrival at 2:40pm, our room wasn’t ready, although we had asked for an early arrival as IHG members. We had lunch in the Gin Bar while we waited, as the main restaurant doesn’t open at lunch. Here’s the first downer. The bar staff were sullen and unwelcoming and if one of them is using the only till, nobody else can or will take your order. So you have to wait. When our room was ready, we were very happy with its size, cleanliness and views of the city and the railway stations platforms but why does everything have to be done through the TV? A physical note of meal times (breakfast), would have been very useful.

The trouble started when we decided to have a swim. Pool full, with a waiting list of indeterminate length, so decided not to bother. Then in the evening, on our (and everyone else’s) return from the Arena, our nightcap hopes evaporated, as the queues for the bar stretched out into the street (again difficulties with the till exacerbated the delays, which an hotel convenient for the arena should and has to be prepared for). So we decided on room service. No response on the phone! Reception then told us that it isn’t answered when the restaurant is closed and to download the app from - you guessed it, the TV! I am fairly tech savvy but no way was the QR code going to download or open the “app”. When I complained again to reception, they manually took our order and it was better than we expected when it came.

Next day we went early for breakfast, which was the usual buffet and ok. When we went out around 9:00, the queue for the restaurant was past reception and almost to the street. Horrendous for those poor guests.

The rest of our stay was uneventful and after dinner out on the second night, we managed a nightcap, getting to the bar before the Arena rush but again, service was delayed with four staff trying to use the one till and an obviously new member having great difficulty. To be fair, the staff coped better with the rush that night. Management, the one till is a major efficiency problem!

We used the club facility and the lady who runs it is welcoming but why isn’t the hot food, provided from 5:30, labelled? The rest is self explanatory but not that. She was too busy serving drinks around the room to ask. Also suddenly turning the lights down to gloom level is not pleasant!

One last whinge. If you want a bath, our room had the slowest tap flow (trickle), we ever encountered. Nearly seven minutes to fill!

So all in all, our previous experience of the Crowne Plaza brand was sadly far from what we expected in Newcastle. Room, position and convenience are good but everything else fell far short of expectations on this visit. Wouldn’t go back.

We just had a very enjoyable two night break at Crowne Plaza Newcastle. We usually stay at InterContinental hotels where they have one and Crowne Plaza or Indigo where they don’t. This was our first stay at Crowne Plaza Newcastle and it is the best CP we’ve stayed in.

The hotel is well placed with both the Quayside and City Centre within a short walk. Parking in the adjacent NCP is convenient and reasonably priced.

We had a one-bedroom suite (I think it’s also called an Executive Suite) which was large, well appointed and comfortable with the added bonus of a good sized private balcony.

Our room came with access to the Club Lounge. The lounge was very generous and provided hot and cold food in the evenings as well as alcoholic drinks. The lounge was very well managed in the evenings by Sally (how does she remember everybody’s name?) and we were greeted at breakfast with a smile and a chat by Beata. We think the lounge access is worth paying extra for.

Highly recommended and we’re already planning our next visit.

One night stay here to see a show in Newcastle. Arrived early therefore our room wasn't available but the reception team kindly stored our bag until later. Parking is (£12/24hr) in the nearby multi storey which was full on arrival so consider allowing extra time for finding alternatives.
When we returned we were pleasantly surprised to find we had been given a free upgrade, we had a spacious suite! Lovely room with large bathroom, clean and excellent facilities, small balcony although we didn't use. However, close proximity to the railway station so be prepared to hear trains passing by. Breakfast had a great selection my only comment would be that it could have been hotter, but the hot food was covered so obviously they were trying to keep food items warm. The hotel has a gin bar and large lounge area. The club lounge, larger than some, was worth paying the extra for the canapes, snacks and beer, wines, or prosecco between 17.30 and 19.30pm. Also, serves a continental breakfast. Thank you Crowne Plaza and a special mention to the excellent host in the club lounge on Thursday 20th.

A six minute walk from the station, ideal as close to all attractions, standard CP. On arrival treated in an offhand manner by reception, no mention of IHG status just we cannot CK in till 15;00 advised not bothered but could we go through the formalities, NO come back at 15;00 immediately a Premier or Travelodge vibe.
Returned at 16;40 CKD in by Radinka who was a pleasure. This hotel flatters to deceive as for the Gin Bar, the waiting room at the station is friendlier. The bar staff seem not to appreciate the value of customers. The place was dead but you still struggled to order
A lot of functions on the go, but Christmas decor does not make a happy place. The reverse is true of the cleaners and breakfast waiting staff a pleasure to be served by them.
Had stayed the previous nights at the Voco in Edinburgh where the staff appeared to appreciate customers. Only other problem was the plumbing was iffy.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I'm delighted to hear that Radinka, along with our housekeeping and breakfast teams, made a positive impression during your stay. It’s wonderful to know that their dedication to excellent service stood out to you. I do regret that some elements of your visit didn’t align with the experience we strive to offer. While our location and festive décor often enhance our guests’ stays, I’m sorry this wasn’t reflected in your initial arrival or at the Gin Bar. These are areas we are actively working to improve, and your feedback will help us make meaningful changes. It’s particularly rewarding to hear how much you enjoyed our location and proximity to the heart of Newcastle, and I hope this added convenience brought value to your visit. I also appreciate your loyalty as an IHG member and would love the opportunity to welcome you back to showcase the full warmth and professionalism we’re known for. Thank you again for your honest insights, and I hope we can make your next stay a truly standout experience. Best regards, Peter J Dawson Director of Operations

Great location for concerts at the Utilita Arena, which was the reason for our stay. Literally a 10 minute walk. Located 10 minute walk from the train station too and a multi-storey car park right next door.
Very clean and well maintained everywhere from reception, corridors, restaurant and rooms. Our room 110 was at the end of a short corridor and very spacious, not many hotels offer a bath and separate shower. The room was very spacious and quiet. Bed was very comfortable with two different types of pillow and we slept very well. Always a bonus to have good sized towels and a powerful hairdryer.
Breakfast was very plentiful, good quality staple hot breakfast items, lots of alternatives such as pastries, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, smoked salmon, meat and cheese.
All staff we encountered were pleasant and accommodating. Overall a very good experience.

The hotel was great value for money, the staff were all knowledgeable and could not do enough to help. The leisure was clean and had good opening hours. The breakfast selection was excellent and the restaurant food was well prepared and tasty although the vegetarian selection was limited. The rooms were cleaned to a high standard and were made up each day and drinking water provided each day . The location made it easy to walk into the city . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay .
