Myself and 3 friends visited this hotel last weekend for a surprise birthday getaway. Upon arrival i was in love with the hotel...smart looking reception, Victorian fireplace in lounge area, helpful staff at check-in, impressive old staircase up to our room etc. The room itself was really nice also, very clean and easily one of the largest king bed rooms...

Very convenient location next to New Street station and very near to the Bull Ring. A Victoria station hotel with all the original features - marble columns, high ceilings, grand staircase and panelled bar. Just the sort of place that travellers from abroad should experience as a slice of life gone by. Not as faded as many old station hotels....

I booked this a one night stay via Booking.com for my birthday treat with my 80 yr old mum. I rang the day before we arrived to check the check in and departure times, as my mum is not as mobile as she used to be and I did not want her waiting around unnecessarily. I was told check in...

My husband took me here as a surprise for my 30th birthday which also included 4 friends turning up. We had a lovely room but no hot water whatsoever for the whole of the stay. We waited over an hour for breakfast to be told on 3 occasions "it's being plated up now". One of the party had ordered a...

This hotel has such potential with its great building and super convenient location, however its let down by the 'tired' fixtures/fittings and poor service. We stayed for two nights, in an executive room, and had to move rooms after the first night as the bed was broken one side and bowed like a banana. The bed in the new room...

We stayed one night, room was good overall but carpet coukd have done with replacing - a few large black sticky tar like marks on it. We were in 226 and outside the window were all the coolant units and extractors so it was very noisy all night and neither of us slept because of the racket. Breakfast great, bar...

Stayed here on Valentine's Day 2017, my partner and I booked a suite for the night and were disappointed to find that the room was very dated. It had ripped wallpaper, creaky floorboards and was generally not maintained to a high standard as you would expect for a 4 star hotel. We were also expecting bathrobes, slippers and a hairdryer,...

Incredibly tired. Can't believe a MacDonald hotel in this downtrodden state. Bathroom ancient. Coving and ceiling black with dirt. Avoid. The free parking was actually £6.50. Staff member Varni? Was warm and friendly. I will not book a hotel with this chain again. Awful.

Stayed while visiting daughter who lives in Birmingham. Location is fab - right outside the station and on New Street right next to all the great shopping. But with the location comes the noise! Tram stop right under the window with the scraping of the trams and loud announcements. Also shouting and screaming of people out in New Street until...
