The owners of Lockgate Dairy B&B clearly have taken great trouble to ensure that their guests are comfortable and pampered. From the Moulton Brown toiletries to the heated flooring to The White Company linens and bathrobes to the fresh flowers in the bedroom, nothing has been spared. Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious. Travel advice was spot on...

The owner of Lock gate dairy is very nice and friendly. The converted barns which form the accommodation are very nice rooms, with en suite and under floor heating. They are clean, well kept and comfy. Set in a pacefully quiet location, located in countryside, but not to far from main town by car. There's a few local pubs which...

Excellent superior-quality accommodation and a splendid breakfast. The proprietor Martin is a most welcoming host and is full of helpful advice about the local area. As long as you have a car this is really a most civilised base from which to explore this part of West Sussex. It worked well for us at February half term.

Martin took great care of our family and made sure our stay was perfect. The cottage was brilliantly located and with white company towels and bed sheets and vey comfortable. The breakfast was stunning, haven't eaten such a good fry up in years, quality ingredients were in abundance. Would highly recommend staying at lockgate dairy.

Martin made us very welcome and served excellent breakfasts with a good choice of cereals, yogurts and fruit as well as a cooked, full English breakfast. The room was lovely, with nice furniture, a comfortable, large bed, ensuite facilities with a good-sized walk-in shower and it was all immaculately clean. Tea and coffee facilities in the room were much appreciated,as...

We spent 2 nights at the Lockgate Dairy, down for the weekend. The cottage was lovely, spacious and comfortable. The bed was big with lovely soft sheets. We loved the extra features, the Nespresso machine and kettle and soaps in the bathrooms. Breakfasts were delicious with generous portions and Martin clearly loves what he does. He made us feel welcome...

I have stayed at Lockgate twice now during my visits to Chichester for work. The rooms have always been clean and cosy and for a light sleeper like me- most importantly- quiet. Both Martin and his wife Helen have been beyond kind and accomodating and visiting them makes the long work days bareable- I actually look forward to visiting! Wonderful...

A small but beautifully formed high quality b&b. The rooms are fresh, bright and exceptionaly clean giving the feel of being brand new, even though they are not. The in room facilities are extensive. Shoe cleaning kit, sewing kit, iron & board, A loaded tea/coffee tray and coffee machine and fresh jugs of milk in the fridge rather than the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Lockgate Dairy offers superb, 5-Star B&B accommodation. Once, a working dairy, Lockgate Dairy is set in rural, open farmland away from all busy roads. It is an ideal place for down time at the end of the business day, and a peaceful night's sleep. Road noise is banished, here. The extra little touches you'll notice and a hearty breakfast, the next morning, will see you right through. If you're in the zone more for pleasure rather than necessity, for a short break, then Chichester is famous for its cathedral, the Festival Theatre, the Novium Museum (based at a Roman bathhouse) and high quality restaurants of varied cuisines. With wide streets and plentiful parking, the town is one of the South's most pleasant shopping experiences, unusually, still dominated by independent shops and plentiful interesting architecture.Immediately surrounding Lockgate Dairy is flat countryside ideal for walking, cycling and exploring Chichester Harbour (sailing, boat tours) with numerous charming waters-edge hamlets and pathways, the expansive sandy beach of West Wittering and the nature reserve at Pagham.Drive just 15 minutes and you could be revving it up on the starting grid at Goodwood motor racing track or looking down Runway 33, about to launch into the skies from Goodwood airfield (formerly RAF Westhamptnet, a satellite WW2 airfield to RAF Tangmere where Hurricanes, Spitfires and Typhoons were once based.Drive a further 5 minutes you're into glorious South Downs scenery. There, Goodwood horse racing is a sure bet as is the amazing Weald and Downland Musuem. ... more   less
