Nice room with view across to the park. A little noisy until the traffic calmed down in late evening, but ok. Easy walking distance to city centre with cathedral and National Media Museum etc or catch bus at bus stop outside hotel.
The Hotel was easy to find, on the main road, directly opposite Lister Park. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Room was comfortable and clean and the full English breakfast was huge and very tasty.

Just got back from there. Hotel and bedrooms are comfortable, staff, guests and locals very friendly (even the workmen who a previous reviewer had complained about, maybe it might be you who was unsociable, just a thought) Saw some really negative reviews and was dreading...More
Was looking for a weekend away, from Friday to Sunday, and we found a cracking hotel in The Cartwright. The room was quiet, clean and en suite, and the staff could not have been more friendly, helpful and approachable. With several Bradford attractions just a...More

Hi. I can only go on our stay at the beginning of June this year. The accommodation was adequate for our stay as we used it for a base. Our room was clean and bedding also. Furniture was a bit dated and well usedone, but most hotels are like this. TV with Dvd player on wall. Desk and chair and wardrobe.Bathroom was small but clean. Staff were so friendly and breakfast was fantastic, especially as we only paid £79 for 3 nights for the both of us. Towels were changed every day. We didn't see a lot of workmen but it was evident that it was still under refurbishment. There was a lot of traffic but this is only expected as the hotel is on the main road. Drink was cheap in the bar which also has a pool table and conservatory. I couldn't fault our stay, would definitely go back.
I hope this helps put your husbands mind at rest :)
