A Gothic Victorian hotel of character which has achieved the status of Runner-up "Hotel of the Year" in Worcestershire . The hotel also hosts the popular and innovative L'amuse Bouche Restaurant, an award winning French themed restaurant set on the side of the Malvern hills. Awarded its original 2nd AA rosette for culinary excellence in 2008 it has now been awarded the title of "Winner in the Eating Out Category of Restaurants in Worcestershire for 2016, 2017 and 2019" and represented the county in the Visit England Finals. The restaurant is also Michelin recommended. The hotel is beautifully and sympathetically maintained throughout. Original features from the 1850's adorn many areas of the hotel. Family owned and run with 15 individually decorated and furnished rooms. Set in its own secluded grounds and with its award winning gardens (Overall winners of the "Heart of England in Bloom Awards 2010", hotel gardens) overlooking the Severn Valley. A short walk from the theatre and town centre. As of 2023, we are now listed as a 4 STAR HOTEL in the new AA AWARDS having just been reviewed by the AA inspector.

What a fantastic hotel! Beautiful building and grounds to walk around. Our bedroom was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean; the beds were extremely comfortable, and we felt very safe during this pandemic. We ate in the restaurant which was superb - first class cuisine and catered for my husband who is coeliac no problem. The tables were spaced apart with transparent screens between the tables, again making us feel very safe. Excellent choice for breakfast, again gluten free options were available including the bread which is a rarity in some places! Lovely, friendly owners and staff who all made us very welcome. Good location for exploring Malvern; we walked up the hills and visited many of the local attractions. Brilliant weekend break!

We have waited so long to go back and see Chris and Barbara and they didn't disappoint, the restaurant looks so pretty with Barbaras custom made partitions (I think they should stay permanently). The welcome was as usual so heartfelt albeit at a distance and the food was heavenly .We were in the garden which has it's own little seating area ,great for that early cuppa before breakfast, can't wait to go back. All staff wear face masks and hand sanitizers are placed throughout the hotel.

A recent visit confirmed the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen. The flavours were excellent, and the dishes interesting without being over complicated. A group of four of us chose a mix off the menu and none disappointing. The welcome was prompt and friendly, and the service was pleasant and prompt. We did not get cordon Blu precision, nor expected it, but any request was dealt with promptly. Having paid over twice as much earlier in the week at a much vaunted establishment, the Amuse Bouche produced better food at a lesser price and with less pomp! All in all; carry on cooking!

My husband and I have been looking forward to eating out for my birthday and more so because the whole country has been in lock down and we had heard good things about the Cotford hotel, boasting its two rosettes and other accolades. The first impressions were very good. We were greeted at the door by friendly waiting staff all wearing face masks.
We ordered our pre dinner drinks and got presented with the menu. At first glance the menu was lacking any imagination, with tiger prawns in a filo basket, a smoked salmon dish and a not overly imaginative parsnip soup, not very inspiring. Then I looked at the main courses where I was horrified to see fish cakes! Fish cakes which I could order with chip! I did not realise I had booked a table at a local chip shop.
We ordered some bread and home made butters. Oh my! The sourdough bread was the finest I have ever tasted and the home made butters were delicious.
Ironically my husband ordered the fish cakes because he likes them and wanted to see what a fancy restaurant would do with them. He was very disappointed with them, he said they were mainly potato, greasy and no where was there any indication of bouillabaisse which these fish cakes were supposed to be with. Which I am lead to believe is a tomato based fish stew. And it was supposed to come with a hollandaise sauce but they obviously ran out because my husband got Béarnaise sauce instead.
I had the pheasant which was ok. Everything on the plate was very sweet and not well balanced at all. All served with reheated vegetables and greasy, tasteless potatoes in chipped crockery.
We had some puddings which again showed little to no imagination. Both of ours came with “autumn fruits” which were just raspberries and strawberries. Which definitely are not autumnal and definitely not British, a sorbet which was very nice and nothing else. As I said earlier no imagination and little to no technical ability was involved making these puddings.
Would I come back? Maybe if they started acting like a 2 rosetted restaurant that they say they are.

Thank you for visiting, When someone visits and then decides to rip us apart with their totally unprofessional opinions with very little idea of understanding of the industry, the amount of hard work, effort and passion that is applied and then retreats to the secrecy that this site can offer, then they are irrelevant to us, the amazing team of professionals that go out of their way 24/7 365 that are our family and on that note we are collectively thrilled that you will not be visiting again. These times are tough at the best of times and we are very fortunate to be constantly very busy/full on just about every service so we really do not need judgmental individuals crossing our threshold in order to throw vitriolic untruths at us . I'm not going to respond to any of your points as they are not worthy of response other than to dismiss them for the fabrication that they generally are. Chris Barbara and all our amazing family/team

I stayed two nights while visiting the Three Choirs Festival in nearby Worcester.

My lasting impression will always be that I was treated like a member of the close Cotford Hotel family.

After my lengthy car journey from Kent, the Cotford was immediately a calm and friendly home. It also represents excellent value for money, with the combination of comfortable rooms, excellent breakfasts and a very good restaurant. The latter offered imaginative and expertly cooked and presented dishes.

I didn’t expect such good Oysters in Malvern and the Crispy Duck Egg is a delight, but the well-balanced menu is full of other delights.

My single room was perfectly comfortable for my short stay, but larger rooms are not that much more expensive.

The Cotford presented a challenge to the other hotels and restaurants I visited on my journey further north, which none, unfortunately, managed to meet.

I will be looking for reasons to stay again.

Stunning food served with smiles. Our 4th visit and we think the food here is up with some of the best French places we have been to .. with a lovely relaxed friendly atmosphere and delightful surroundings. Best of all, it’s in our town!
The cleverly achieved separation of tables with clear screens, a smoked mirror wall to give a feeling of space and a waterfall trickling away outside. But best of all delicious, beautifully served food. We both had the filo prawns to start, plump and juicy. Then lamb and duck to follow cooked perfectly to medium rare, and a delicious dessert each.
Each plate was a delight to behold. Thank you for a very special evening.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and we are VERY glad we did. We took advantage of a two-night package including breakfast and two courses from the a la carte menu. It was all very special. The dining experience was top drawer and will live long in the memory. The chef really knows his business, as you can tell from his bio on the hotel website. The food and portions were all just right, so tasty, so many flavours, and the wine we had was tremendous. We particularly enjoyed the pudding/sweet taster selection (where you get one of everything). We loved the relaxing atmosphere of the restaurant, and all the staff were very friendly and well trained. Even the views from the restaurant into their sizeable garden with water feature were charming. We will definitely book here again in the future. The room was nice enough and about 4-star standard, but the dining experience was a real treat that goes beyond 5-star ratings. Their two AA Rosettes, years of being Michelin Guide listed and many prestigious culinary awards speaks for itself. Worth every penny. Will be recommending this hotel to friends.

We recently stayed on recommendation for two nights B&B, with Dinner extra. Menu is the same each day, but once was enough for us. Obviously, a bit of an upmarket hotel in its day, but even so, I have no problem with £3.50 for a gin, albeit regular Gordons, but £3.00 for a small tin of Scheppes tonic to go with your Gin is rather excessive in my opinion.
I don't know but I guess that booking through a third party you are allocated a 'lower' type of room. I understand that the hotel was not full and our double for two nights was very small and not particularly comfortable. Interestingly, cancellation is not available on Hotels.com, but available on Booking.com which seemed a bit odd.
A special word of thanks to the very attentive young ladies who served us dinner...a credit to the hotel.
Ultimately, would we stay there again ? No thankyou.

This was my first stay at The Cotford Hotel. I was with a group of walkers who were returning for a second time - with good reason. The hotel is very stylish and comfortable with attention to detail reflected in every aspect. The friendly and personal service started with our warm welcome by Ele and continued throughout our two night stay. Pre dinner drinks were enjoyed in the beautiful drawing room followed by a delicious dinner in a well appointed dining room. I discovered The Cotford Hotel and L'amuse -Bouche Restaurant are the creation of the owners Chris and Barbara Morgan. Chris is an amazing chef not only producing a delicious menu but also responsible for designing the wonderful gardens full of interesting planting and seating areas. With her flair for interior design Barbara has given this characterful house an air of quirky grandeur. My room was equipped with everything I needed, the en-suite was great and the mattress soooo comfortable. There is car parking but the hotel's location is within walking distance of all amenities, an ideal place to stay for exploring Malvern and it's hills.

Such a beautiful hotel. We were nearly an hour late for our afternoon tea, road works diversions closed roads you name it, it was no problem at all, the staff are so friendly and accommodating. Our room was beautiful with doors leading out to the stunning gardens, we even had our own outdoor patio. Then the evening meal, well ,Chris the chef doesn't just cook stunning food the presentation is like artwork. The waitering staff were very attentive, Barbara took the time to chat and make you feel very much at home, the decor and attention to detail is lovely. My husband and myself will most certainly be returning.

Hi John, I don't recall a lift and I'm not entirely certain there are ground floor rooms. However, I do seem to recall there is a room at the back of the hotel (with great views) that can be accessed from a different door. I'd suggest you contact the hotel, Barbara the owner is very helpful and friendly, I'd hate you to base a decision on my limited knowledge. Again, regarding the grab rails, I believe there were in the room we had, but I think each room varies as to suitability for different needs. I hope you manage to stay there, they definitely look after you and make you feel special.

All tips are distributed throughout the staff that work the front of house. If Housekeeping or kitchen staff are offered a tip by a customer, then they are obliged to keep them but offer a self declaration at the financial year end. .. All tips that we are aware of are added to the staff wages and are then taxed at source as has been the practice for some years now on the advice of the Inland revenue. A member of staffs basic pay rate differs upon experience and then an hourly amount is added to include any tips that we are offered. This then gives all staff a very much, above average hourly rate which is of course subject to taxation but leaves them having received tips in full but clear of any tax implications. Please contact us if you would like so that we can explain this in more detail if it helps and so that this worrying review may be removed forthwith. Sincerely Chris and Barbara Morgan

Not in the restaurant, but Barbara and Chris are very accommodating, I think dogs are allowed in the bar and you can eat in there if you are unable to leave your dog. Best thing to do is give them a call and I’m sure they will help you out.
