I stayed with Martyn & Caroline for one night & will look no further if I come to the area again. They were excellent hosts & have a genuine desire to give guests what they wish to feel comfortable, relaxed & good memories of their stay. Nobody need ever worry about staying here - it's really very good.

I have stayed at the Buttermilk twice and on both occasions i was made to feel like an extented member of the family. The food is excellent - you are spoilt for choice at breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble for your hosts Martyn and Caroline. The rooms are clean and homely.Would highly recommend.

The best feature of Buttermilk are the hosts Martyn and Caroline. You are greeted enthusiastically and no trouble is spared to make you feel welcome. We stayed in the Garden room which has its own entrance with a private garden and patio. The room was very clean and well-presented and the bathroom a comfortable size. Breakfast was amazing, no need...

We have stayed at Buttermilk and found all aspects of our stay to be of superior standard. We stayed on the Garden Room where it is a little taste of an English country garden. It is pleasant to wake in the morning to hear and see the birds in the garden. All facilities are in the room, with tea and...

Like others, we found Martyn and Caroline to be very welcoming hosts. Breakfast was massive, with lots of fresh fruit and figs from the garden. We were in the Garden Room, itself comfortable but with an en suite that was below the standard we expect - and have received in recent bed and breakfast establishments. The en suite is more...

We can highly recommend Buttermilk. We stayed in the "garden room" with our dog Megan and were made so welcome. The best breakfast experienced in the UK and Martyn and Caroline made us so welcome. The room was extrememly comfortable and we were provided with tea and coffee making facilities as well as some delicious home made shortbread.

Booked for myself and my husband, and my 86 year old father. He has Coeliac disease and needs a gluten free diet - Martyn and Caroline went to a lot of effort to make him feel comfortable and provided gluten free toast and also some gluten free cakes for him to eat while we scoffed Caroline's wonderful fruit cake. Accommodation...
