I’d innocently booked this hotel and fully paid before arrival. On arrival we were told we couldn’t stay as we had crossed tiers of COVID . We then were out on the street so had to pay for an hour taxi ride home . At the reception we were told we would get a refund but after many weeks travelodge said no . Happy to take money straight away but said I shouldn’t have booked . Awful service . Try the premier inn nearby
The NCP car park was difficult to find and once inside there was a single sign saying "Travelodge on Floor 1". Nowhere on Floor 1 was a sign for the hotel. Luckily an exasperated car park attendant gave me directions saying they always get asked. Once outside, the hotel was once again virtually invisible. Even after going up two travellators, the only sign was out of sight around a U bend. The receptionist said they'd been asking for proper signs for years. Must improve this site, Travelodge.
Our room was clean and the shower was very efficient. The hotel is superbly located and very close to the cathedral and shops and restaurants. We were on the 4th floor with a great view of the cathedral and the surrounding countryside. The staff were very good and happy to provide extra tea and coffee when asked. All very Covid secure.
Great value at £28pn for a double room. Location is perfect for a night out or a bit of retail therapy. Parking is in the multi storey and cost me £11 for about 21 hours parking with the hotel discount. Room was on the small side but big enough also had nice views of the tudor houses and areas around ( room 218) reception was good and staff attentive. Slight negatives would be the damp smell in the room and the shower head could do with a descale as all nozzles were orange.
All very much as expected for a Travelodge and lots of clear signage and guidance for the current situation. We had travelled and forgot our tickets for an event and the receptionist , Silvia( may have spelt that wrong) ,was able to help us sort this out very quickly. Great service and thanks
