The only positive about this hotel is the location. We booked a twin but were moved to a double room as the twins were full, room 12. The room is absolutely tiny, the bathroom door opens onto the bed. This room was nothing like any of the rooms in the photos. We were very upset when we arrived and felt ripped off. The walls are paper thin so we were kept up all night by people coming and going. The room was filthy- looked like it hadn't been hovered in years, cobwebs all over the ceiling, dust all over the side table and behind it (visible from the bed). There was hair in the bathroom from the previous people and the bedsheets were stained. Breakfast the food was okay, but the staff are miserable, no one greeted us when we arrived. Rather than clean up dirty plates and take them away they dump all of the trays on a circular table in the middle of the room so everyone had to look at them whilst eating. Unsanitary and unsightly. I was planning on expressing my unhappiness on checkout but the lady didn't speak to me once just took my key. Overall if we hadn't arrived late with no other option we would not have stayed at this hotel- this is genuinely one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at.…
We stayed here for 2 nights when dropping my son at uni. The climb up several flights of steep stairs was the first hurdle. The room was in the attic with no opening windows or curtains. The room had a small double and single. Bed linen was clean but room was dirty and shabby with poor finish see photos. Thin walls so you are kept awake by neighbouring rooms you can hear everything! Shower didn't work but there is no way of contacting hotel as you are several doors away from marine hotel. This is where you have breakfast which is a buffet in a massive ballroom. Poor quality ingredients raw mushrooms cold food save your money eat in the town. We paid 120 per night room only breakfast is extra which was very bad value for money would never stay here again or recommend.
Booked last minute for one night and got the last available room . The apartment was in an annexe a few doors away from the main hotel. The Marine hotel We were in a tiny attic room. Room 10 on the top floor. First impressions was it was very compact and the bathroom was tiny. It would be a tight squeeze if you were of larger build. We had a sash window with stunning sea views . The room we stayed in would not be suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. We had four flights of stairs to our room. Rooms 10 and 11 were up a very steep flight of stairs from the 2nd floor landing. Our room had a single bed with sloped ceiling above and a small double. It was clean and comfortable apart from some stains on the carpet. We had drinks in the bar which were reasonably priced . There was a bar menu but we did not eat dinner at the hotel. Breakfast was lovely. So much choice. Hot buffet, plenty for vegetarians, cereals fruits and decent filter coffee. The hotel is central to everything. 5 minutes walk to the town. Fab sea views and a 5 minute walk to The railway which runs up Constitution hill. The real selling point of the hotel for us was the lovely spa area in the basement. Jacuzzi, steam and sauna rooms and a relaxation area. We loved our stay and would definitely return. All staff we encountered were helpful and friendly. .…
We stayed in room 1 for 3 nights. This spacious ground floor room had large sash windows with beautiful sea views. It had a shower room and a kitchenette area with table & chairs. Lovely clean room. Bed was big & really comfy. the Sea was literally across the road and only a few mins walk into town. Breakfast was included in our room rate. There was a choice of full cooked breakfast/cereals/fruit yogurts/juices/pastries. Mostly buffet style and other items cooked/made fresh to order. The breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and helpful - ensuring people were catered for and taking plates quickly/bringing more coffee etc. This hotel allows dogs in some of the rooms for an extra charge, so great for us to be able to take our little dog. The only criticism I could make is that the heating was only on from 5pm in the evening & went off at night - so the room was cold during the daytime. We mentioned this to reception and they said they'd check it - but it remained cold until the last day, then suddenly the heating was on all time. The room rate was a little expensive given that it was February; although having said that most places with a sea view were of a similar rate. There is a free hotel car park at the rear of the property but spaces are limited and its first com first served.…
