Stayed there 1 night during the night during the business trip. not sure when the pictures on the advert were taken - but defo ages ago!! The hotel doesn't look like that at all! The room was gross, bed uncomfortable. Bathroom was dirty with grout coming out from between the tiles!! Water pressure was very weak (considering that they call themselves as "spa" they should have excellent water pressure!), I had to wait 20 mins for the warm (not HOT!!, just warm) water. Total ignorance from the hotel staff. Parking - on the street only, so don't be mislead with the information that they do have a car park available. Definitely will not return. AVOID!
We booked a festive Pamper break which included afternoon tea, a massage each, 3 course meal and an overnight stay overlooking the sea with breakfast in the morning. Obviously covid meant it was quieter than normal, but good practices in place. The afternoon tea was first and was really nice, and we met and chatted to the owner who was really nice. We then went for our treatment with Luxe Beauty and Treatment with Sabrina and that was lovely. The room had an amazing view, right on the sea front and the biggest bed we've ever seen. Room had everything we needed and was nice to have chairs and a table which we could watch the world go by. The food was good, dinner and breakfast and the F&B staff really good. A special mention to Hafwen who was great sorting my booking and keeping us informed. We would definitely stay again…
The hotel is very much in need of improvement. The staff do their best but they are fighting the odds against them. Our room was OK - smallish but had the basics we needed. On the first day, the radiator was simply not giving off heat! The staff supplied us with a fan heater but it was a toss-up as to who won - the heater or the wind blowing in around the window frame! Fortunately, the radiator was fixed in late afternoon of our second day. Food was adequate but let down (certainly at breakfast) by being served on cold plates but the food wasn't hot to start with! Never had a good breakfast during our three-day stay. Evening meal was a disaster on the first evening (Fish & chips - looked like it had been cooked the day before and warmed up). Awful! On the second day, the lamb steaks were inedible. Such a shame as they looked OK when they arrived. To be fair, our third and last evening meal was first class - Salmon, done to a turn!! To sum up, this hotel has to get a grip and update the tired areas of which there are more than a few. It is in a lovely setting and, as I have said, the staff are excellent. Get the food sorted out, too. Our last evening meal proved it can be done and I repeat, breakfast is a lot better if kept hot and served on hot plates!!…
When we arrived and were given key, and directed to room, that was out the front entrance and up to the top of the third building along the front of the hotel. We were in an attic room with a double and a single bed. The room was not fit for purpose, and was of very poor quality. . The window leaked and it was cold. The single bed frame was broken, so Son was not able to sleep on the bed. We did inform reception but nobody came to check or resolve the problem. Breakfast was disorganised and not COVID safe. We would never stay hear again. On checked out i did mention that the bed was broken again and the room did not reflect the website pictures. £10 was deducted from room, so paid £100 but really it should have been half the price.
I returned to the fabulous Marine Hotel. They take Covid very seriously. The room was immaculate on the top floor, well appointed and very comfortable. Due to covid I chose to dine in the restaurant each evening as opposed to going into diverse restaurants, the food was lovely, the staff were lovely especially Nia who excelled in customer service and she really made us feel welcome and looked after; an asset to this hotel. The most beautiful sunsets were to be enjoyed and savoured from the restaurant. Nice house wines, vibrant atmosphere in the bar. Can't wait to return. Many thanks.
