After driving through Tintern previously on our way to Chepstow many a time we finally decided to stay and check out the local attractions, mainly the Tintern Abbey and arts and crafts centre. We chose the Old Rectory for location originally and a good price set for the night but we were not expecting such a fantastic little gem in...

The Old Rectory is filled with character and charm. I stayed for one night and slept in a blissfully comfortable bed. The house was wonderfully quiet. Liz couldn't have been more welcoming nor accommodating. I was welcomed as if I were an an old family friend and it was easy to feel totally at home, not only by Liz and...

We stayed at the Old Rectory Cottage for the weekend in April. Liz warmly welcomed us with homemade bread, flowers and fresh eggs and made us feel at home straight away. The cottage is superbly kitted out to a high standard, a home from home. Our son loved the garden with trampoline and basketball hoop and really enjoyed helping to...

Had a lovely break here for 5 days. Lovely cottage superbly equipped and spotlessly clean and welcoming. The homemade bread and eggs from the chickens running around were a real bonus. Our cocker spaniel Darcy was made really welcome even if he did persuade Pepper the resident canine, to join him on a chicken chase! Very central location and close...

Clean, comfortable, warm and cosy. What more could anyone ask for? My friend and I really struggled to find accomodation that would accept our 4 exceptionally well behaved dogs. We stubbled upon this little cottage on the internet, so glad we did! I fell in love with the location as soon as we arrived. Host was very welcoming and friendly,...

Just returned from a stay at the Old Rectory Cottage. Had such a wonderful and relaxing weekend. Brought our two Labrador dogs and we were all made to feel very welcome. The cottage is immaculate and is very cosy. It also has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location is also amazing. A short walk across the field...

A great family weekend for seven adults, two in the house and five in the cottage. Liz made us most welcome: the cottage was comfortable and, although designed for four, we had been told there was no problem sleeping a fifth if we brought a sleeping bag. Milk, home baked bread and home laid eggs were waiting for us. We...

My husband and I stayed in the B&B room in the Rectory and other family members stayed in the holiday let. We had a 7 hour journey to get there on the Bank Holiday weekend, but the welcome we got from Liz was lovely. She made us feel at home immediately and showed such concern and interest in us. As...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Old Rectory is a beautiful 16th-century country house occupying a wonderfully tranquil corner of the village and surrounded by peaceful gardens, lush farmland and imposing mountains. Flanked by greenery on all sides, the house enjoys expansive views over a wide (often sheep-filled!) meadow and overlooks the lazily meandering River Usk. A substantial family house steeped in history and full of lovely period touches, in the Old Rectory we like to think we offer our guests a warm and welcoming home away from home with just a touch of distinction. Whether you are looking for somewhere to stay for just one night, a weekend break or an extended touring holiday of Wales, we look forward to welcoming you. ... more   less
