Standing above a beautiful stretch of the River Dee close to the centre of the pretty market town of Llangollen. The Hand Hotel with its stunning riverside garden, old world charm, ample free parking and home cooked food from our popular restaurant, is ideal for romance, for families, and groups, whether private or business, as well as for your wedding or conference.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Stayed 4 nights to visit the local area/snowdonia. Overall good value for money, we had a large family room over looking the river. Good facilities in the room, hairdryer, shampoo/shower gel/clean towels daily/tea and coffee facilities and the beds were made each day.
We ate dinner in the hotel once, prices are comparable with other restaurants near by however if I’m being fussy the quality and service wasn’t quite there. I would probably recommend booking meals elsewhere such as the corn mill and fouzis.
Top buffet breakfast with a range of options for everyone.
The bedroom and restaurant decor is slightly dated but clean enough and reflects the room rate.
Great central location, nice village to walk around. It has a beer garden with seats over looking the river dee. Good area for children to play.
There is free parking at the hotel (come first served) which is nice but can get quite busy. There is a pay and display very close by.

Stayed one night, which was too much! The hotel is in a good location, lovely views of the River Dee and friendly receptionist, sadly the good review ends there. Hotel is badly in need of a refurb, our room smelt musty, mattress was dreadful, stains on chairs and the bathroom is out of date. Shower mix was either hot or cold. Unfortunately for us, we were not informed at booking but a live band was playing until 11.30 directly under our room, felt like it was in our room. People were outside smoking and shouting until after midnight under our room window. You can hear the people in rooms adjoining so we then had doors banging too. Breakfast was buffet style, average food. Such a disappointment for a huge hotel in a lovely area.

A lovely friendly hotel. Shabby in parts but chic. Comfy beds and a lovely generous breakfast. The price is reasonable for the area and the location is perfect for steam enthusiasts. A beautiful view of the river dee along with easy access to the main town. Lively music and a good bar at the weekends. A most interesting history along with some architectal designs tells the story.

A group of our family had Sunday dinner at Yhe Hand, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
There are no vegan mains on the menu, but the staff were lovely and made me a stuffed pepper, with which I had all the traditional vegetables. One of our group had the vegetarian nut roast with vegetables, also very nice, if maybe just a little rich.
The surroundings are traditional, very impressive and comfortable.
The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating, they looked after us very well.
The toilets are reached on the flat, I do not recall any steps at the rear entrance we used, from the hotel's car park.
Highly recommended.

Booked the Hand Hotel couple months before the concert, lady booked us two twin rooms, very clean with comfy beds, ours had a bay window overlooking the river and beer garden an a great view of Castell Bran on top of the hill. Proprietor Denise Davies was lovely to the foyr of us, said she'd see her there at the concert too and ended up dancing next to her!! Breakfast next morning after a warm welcome by Denise again to help ourselves was hot and non greasy and plenty of it, cereal or fruit + yogurt first then a cooked brekkie and toast.. will be back again and would certanly recommend and hope to see Denise still there!! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, just pity about the drizzle as we had planned to sit at the beer garden before the concert, mabe next time .

We had organised the trip for a group of Walkers, knowing that The Hand was central and in walking distance of Offa's Dyke, the Llangollen Canal and Horseshoe Falls.
It did not disappoint. We had evening meal twice, and went out on a couple of occasions. All were reasonably priced, with a good menu choice. Breakfasts were excellent, even gluten free bread avalable.
Although our room was more expensive, it was worth it, as we had a lovely view from our bay window overlooking the garden and river. Excellent.
The staff were very helpful and multi-tasked at times. We would certainly return.

Myself, my husband and adult son were lucky enough to book into Hands Hotel Llangollen Christmas Eve through to today Boxing Day
We had such an amazing chilled out Christmas break thanks to the management and staff
Despite being their holiday season and busy we were totally spoilt nothing was too much for these lovely and extremely professional people
We booked for Christmas Eve dinner and then the main event Christmas lunch. The food was amazing. Christmas day lunch matched and in many cases outshone that of 5 star hotel I have been on occasions for Christmas
I am diabetic and mentioned this to management. On Xmas day the restaurant closed after Xmas lunch but chef left me sandwiches Xmas cake , mince pie and lots of other treats for rhe evening due to my having to eat after my insulin
This was at no extra charge.
So thank you from myself and my family Hands Hotel for customer service above and beyond
The accommodation was clean, warm and the hotel itself beautifully decorated for Christmas
If you want a stress free holiday season with every attention to detail this is the place to go

On arrival at the hotel we were greeted with a warm welcome and check in was prompt, reception was very welcoming. Although she did warn us the room may be cold as it was a late booking (strange I thought as I'd booked 5 hours or so before we arrived).
We headed up to our room only to find the key wouldn't work in the lock of the door, I headed back to reception to advise them over this and the lady at reception advised she would change our room, it was then the gentleman behind her (who it seemed was the manager advised he'd had problems with the lock some 3 days earlier, I thought this was strange as I would have thought they would have attended to this or taken the room out of action!!!).
We walked up to our room and entered the room which we found to be small, with the shower being very small with nowhere to place toiletries in the shower (we ended up perching them on the top of the cubicle). As soon as we had entered the room we noticed how extremely cold the room was, we decided to head straight out.
We headed out and went for food returning to the bar later for some drinks, the bar was very welcoming and the staff were great. We headed up to bed and fell asleep (the room was still cold, despite us putting both heaters on some 5hrs previously) only to be woken up at midnight by people talking outside, we managed to fall asleep only to be woken up again by talking outside at 1.30am, this went on until after 2am. When we looked out of the window we noticed our room was above the outside courtyard and main entrance to reception and there was either a group of late night drinkers or employees stood outside reception talking loudly and drinking!!!!
We eventually got to sleep and in the morning went down for breakfast, we received a warm welcome and the breakfast was lovely with proper butchers sausages and nice thick bacon.

I stayed here for 2 nights, both mornings I was woke up around 5.30am to be what can only be described as loading a beer cellar or moving large plastic drums.
On the first evening I had dinner, starter breaded mushrooms (tasted like deep fried oil) main was pie, chip, peas & gravy (gravy was tasteless and had to much cornflower)
Needles to say on my second night I got a take away from the local Chinese.
After my first meal for my breakfast I had 2 slices of toast and a glass of orange juice, so I'm not in a position to make a comment. But the second morning even though breakfast was included in my stay I paid for a breakfast at a local cafe where I was working.
The rooms are very dated, with a portable TV, the shower is an old style mixer tap with a very narrow jet.
My bed was made during the day but one of my pillows was left on the floor next to my SINGLE bed.
Not very welcoming at all.
I would not recommend this as a place to stay.

Booked here for Sunday lunch for my daughters birthday, I contacted in advance as my grandaughter (5) is gluten-free. They went above and beyond getting in exactly what she wanted to eat and making it for her with gluten free gravy. She ate every bit so thank you so much, going out for meals can be really challenging but this was ice and easy and she really enjoyed it.

No not at all/. We read a review of someone who said they were bitten by bed buts in a certain room but its not true as far as we know. The hotel was clean and we had no problems at all.
There are more places to choose from in the Llangollen area.
