One of the best places I've stayed in. Fantastic location, comfortable clean room, heart warming food after a long day hiking in the area and completely dog friendly! Staff are very helpful and chatty. I'll be back for sure.

My partner and I stayed in The Gwydyr for 2 nights over a weekend for a friends wedding nearby.
When checking in, the lady on reception as super friendly and helpful, which was appreciated after a long drive up from South Wales.

Booked this hotel in June, read hundreds of reviews for places to stay all over Snowdonia and decided on this one to use as a base for our three day stay. Booking Betws-y-coed as a base was great, just wished we had booked a different hotel! First the pros: good location, free pa

Dear Mr Moore I am so very sorry to learn from Trip Advisor that you had such a terrible stay at the Gwydyr Hotel. It would appear that we missed your message regarding a quiet room on the 1st floor, as unfortunately all our 1st floor rooms either face the main road or are over the bar or restaurant. It is unfortunate that you did not accept a move to room 7 on the 1st floor as offered, as this room is slightly quieter being on the corner and furthest away from the bar. The quietest rooms are on the second floor at the rear of the hotel, however I understand this alternative was again not an option to you due to medical conditions. It was also disappointing to note that the beds were not to your liking, whilst the orthopaedic mattresses are not brand new, they are only 3 years old and well within the recommended 8 year lifespan, the bed bases are only 12 months old. The hotel does not advertise or operate a 24 hour reception, staff are available from 7.30am until 11pm so I'm sorry your needs were not attended to outside of these hours. I understand that you were poorly after eating at the hotel, however we had 16 other rooms staying that same night and on-one else complained of being ill. It is also extremely important for me to point out that our premises has scored maximum points for food hygiene and food safety for the last 5 years and indeed coincidentally, we were independently reviewed one week before your visit also scoring full marks. During our ownership we have never received any complaints of illness caused by food consumed on the premises. I can confirm that I did speak to the family in the room above you after you complaining about the noise and I asked if they could be more considerate to the room below and they assured me that they would do so. As I heard no further complaints from yourself I assumed they had complied. Once again I am so sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Kind regards Dawn & The Gwydyr Team

Is Sue being paid to say such NEGATIVE things about the owner/staff at The Gwydyr Hotel. Perhaps she was staying at a different place to the one that welcomes me with hugs and great chit chat. Warm, friendly & clean with good, generous meals See my reviews always positive. The owners have worked miracles, considering what they inherited.
Fiona you really are a treasure!! Hope you are keeping fit and well x

Hi, I have booked this hotel for NYE family of 4 with 2 children just wondering is it family friendly we are booked in at bounce below that day, would we have to book for food at the hotel that night? And is there any entertainment on NYE? Thanks.
Hi Yvonne, We are not serving main meals on New Year's Eve, we have a free finger buffet and a disco to count down the New Year for all our guests. If you wish to have a main meal, can I suggest you book a table in village. Kindest regards Dawn

Hi - so sorry for the delay in replying. The train station is only approximately 200 metres away and Hafod farm is a short taxi ride (approximately 1 mile) Kindest regards Dawn
