We had a 4 night break here during August as a family. The hotel staff are very welcoming on arrival, you checkin at the bar and it was a very quick, simple process and they help you and take you up to your room, which is a nice touch. We had a room on the 2nd floor, nice big family...

this is a ok place for a few days visit in Betsy-y-Coed. Lays in the center and the price is ok. We stayed for 2 days and we eat at the hotel both days. The food is good, no more no less at a fair price. The room was good and clean. The staff was really good and very friendly....

It's not very often I would rate a hotel so low, but taking into account value for money and fairness/transparency of rates this hotel was a big disappointment. In all honesty, the reason for this is quite simply the room we stayed in- it was fusty, damp, had a smelly bathroom, old and squeaky mattress, and was altogether very tired....

This hotel after many years of neglect is now in new hands and it's being refurbished. It is very much a work in progress and our room having been refurbished was very plesent with a great shower. However being at the front it is noisy early morning with the A5 traffic and it would be nice to see double glazing...

Thank you for your lovely review, we are aware that the windows need replacing, however being in a conservation area, these will need to be hand made in oak to match the existing and as there are so many of them they are not planned to be part of the refurbishment scheme until 2017/18.

The hotel is situated in an amazing location. Small hotel, no reception, had to check in and out at the bar. Staff friendly , room was nice, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was tasty. I thought checkout was a bit early at 10.30am but we were leaving early anyway. I would stay again if in that area.

Partly refurbished bar and dining area suggests that the rooms might come up to standard in time however at present the accommodation is entirely underwhelming. Great location and mostly helpful and friendly staff apart from the odd less motivated team member; letting the side down.

First the good news .... Most of the staff in the hotel were all very polite and helpful, the food at breakfast and dinner was of a really good standard at a reasonable price. They say booking is needed but all the time throughout my stay they were never more than half full. Now the bad ... If you dont...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the hotel. I'm sorry we were unable to be more helpful however, as explained, the hotel was fully bookedl during your stay so we were unable to move you to a different room and our only option was to seek alternative accommodation for you in another establishment. I am...

Stayed here as part of a 3 peaks challenge. Arrived exhausted, hungry and in serious need of a shower. Staff went the extra mile to get the room ready early. Beds comfortable, with quality linen - agree the rooms will be better once the planned redecoration has gotton upstairs. Woul definitely stay again !

My husband and I stayed in The Gwydyr hotel for 3 nights and all in all had a lovely stay. We checked in fairly late in the evening due to a long drive to north wales but the staff were so helpful. They showed us to our room and offered to help us with our bags. The lady (who we...

Had two nights in a dog friendly twin room. Good bits: great bar area and very nice staff, nice atmosphere and a good range of beers. We had food in the bar and it was well priced, good quality and tasty. Less good bits: the room felt rather tired with old carpet, creaky wardrobe that wouldn't close properly and a...
