We stayed for two nights and ate in the restaurant one night. The friendly owners - and their cats - took a lot of time to make us feel welcome, and both the room and food were lovely (especially the chocolate mousse). The room was quiet, warm and looked out onto the garden and the Usk Valley. The breakfasts were...

We took dear friends there for Sunday lunch last Sunday, never been before and it was a true delight. Beautifully appointed, warm dining room, spacious, yet felt very atmospheric and cosy. Our table was next to the wood burner as requested. Wonderful welcome from Joy the proprietor, we felt so at home and yet as if we were experiencing a...

After a lovely week away exploring the Brecon Beacons, we chose The Travellers Rest as a final night eating place after hearing encouraging whispers. My wife and I were so glad we did - had a fantastic evening eating food that was flawless in taste and preparation in cosy surroundings. If you are anywhere near, you must treat yourself. The...

Booked last minute for a meal and overnight stay and were not disappointed. The food was fantastic with locally sourced simply cooked food which was superb. Attentive friendly service and a comfortable night sleep. Followed by one of the best breakfasts I've had for a long time and a relaxing walk along the canal side.

Yes Simon P, we often find an unexpected last minute break the best and are so glad you were not disappointed, but then people like yourselves make it a pleasure, thank you. Regards Joy at The Travellers

Such a lovely little place tucked in alongside the canal. Booked a table in here for myself and my boyfriend and it was very enjoyable indeed. The menu included a few things I had never heard of but I took a gamble and went for the smoked duck for my starter. I had never ever eaten duck prior to this...

We had a lovely relaxing 2 night stay here with our cycles. This is a welcoming and friendly place to stay. The room was spotless and nicely furnished. Lovely garden with gorgeous view of the valley and nice areas to sit and take in the view. The breakfast is substantial and with plenty of refills of coffee. We ate here...

Very good point Tess502, we will indicate on our menus that the meat we use is locally sourced, as is, as far as possible all other ingredients. So glad you had a relaxing stay though your cycling sounded anything but relaxed Anyway a nice soak afterward and look forward to another birthday. Thank you

my wife and I had a fantastic meal in the Travellers Rest last night, it was the best meal we have had for a very long time . Joy is a very attentive host , making sure you enjoy your meal. The restaurant is quite small (seats at max 18) but this ensures quality is always excellent. It was fully...

So glad you enjoyed your dinner with us and took time to write this gratifying review We can actually seat 30 by removing the sofas, this for reunions of families, friends etc. If you can persuade Joy to give you her sticky toffee cake, let me know, so far I've failed ( Doug ) Look forward to your return

Just returned from a fabulous two nights at The Traveller's Rest . We arrived at 9:30 pm , so late on Friday and the chef and waitress had stayed on so we could have a truly delicious meal. We appreciate you taking time to write us your review with the recommendation to call on us. Reason for need to book is to give us time to prepare for a fairly extensive menu with everything fresh, nothing from frozen, Joy's Nut Roast, yes a very successful vegetarian option, occasionally asked for instead of vegetables to accompany meat dishes Thank...
