Hotel Indigo Cardiff, an IHG Hotel, garners compliments for its stylish Welsh-inspired decor and cleanliness, with guests often noting the spotless conditions. The central location is a hit for those looking to explore city attractions, although it comes with a caveat of potential noise, mitigated by available earplugs and quieter room options. While the rooms earn praise for their unique charm and comfort, some guests mention varying sizes and occasional maintenance issues. The service is generally lauded, especially at breakfast and reception, but experiences can vary. The rooftop bar and modern amenities add to the hotel's appeal, though opinions on value for money are mixed.

Friday night in Cardiff and the first thing reception asked was do you want a view or quiet room. The distinction is a good one. The hotel is right in the shopping and entertainment area of the city so rooms overlooking that part of town are not surprising got a little prone to the noise from revellers at the weekend. Our room at the back looked out onto service areas but had plenty of natural light and was certainly peaceful and comfortable.
The decor was boutique with the furniture aping flight cases like those used by bands and touring companies playing the nearby St David’s Hall. The bathroom was spacious with a fabulous rainfall shower, though for those who like a soak, there was no bath. The hotel is a 10-15 walk from the Central Station and ideal for those visiting the castle, shops, especially Cardiff’s numerous Victorian arcade with their independent shops, as well as the pubs, cafes and restaurants in the city centre. Having had a good wander we took advantage of the happy three hours, two for one cocktails in the rooftop ‘Lefel 6’ bar and restaurant. Staff knew their stuff, so we decided to stay to eat. Food was inexpensive, especially for a hotel, tasty and well presented with waiting staff pleasant and efficient. Breakfast the following day had a nice range of options including kippers and eggs Benedict. All the hot dishes were specially prepared. For those wanting cereals juices and continental style, there was the usual buffet, with the somewhat busier dining room reflecting value of B&B rates.

From the moment we stepped through the door to be greeted by the wonderful Maya, we were blown away by the location, decor, finishing touches and overall attention to detail at the Hotel Indigo. My only non positive was the smell of the toiletries, I wasn't a fan as i found the ginger too overpowering, but that is so personal I'm sure the next guest will love them.

The hotel has relatively easy public parking just 5 minutes away with discounted resident rates (£17 a day). Situated in the center of the city and just 10 minutes by taxi to the bay. The room decor was an eclectic mix of texture, prints and great lighting, with a fabulous range of complementary items on the refreshment tray. We liked the touch of subtle bathroom lighting, ideal during the night so you didn't have to have to main light on...and the showers are wonderful. The bed was large and comfy.

But the very best thing about this hotel is the staff. We had had a problem with checking in another hotel the day before and was feeling exhausted by the stress of it, how different this experience was!

We were greeted by Maya and her huge smile, she was so genuinely happy to help and we really felt that our stay with them in the hotel was important to her. To feel welcomed and appreciated as a guest is a wonderful feeling. We did come into contact with other staff who were all very friendly and professional but for us Maya really stood out, she is a credit to the hotel.

Thank you Hotel Indigo for a brilliant stay.

Booked this hotel for a gig (Richard Thompson at the New Theatre) and because it was near to the venue. You enter via the arcade and are given a card key which guarantees entry to the hotel once the arcade is closed for the night. The receptionist staff were friendly, knowledgeable and v pleasant. Booking breakfast was no issue at all and we were given a good room in a quiet area on the 1st floor. The lift lobby opens out onto a quirky art windowed atrium and our room had a rocking chair and old fashioned style telephone. Bed was high up and Queen sized, but enough pillows provided. Room has kettle, hairdryer, tea and coffee concessions and a fridge provided. Also 2 shower robes provided and lotion and hand wash.
Finding the breakfast area was fun- you have to go up to the 4th floor then walk a short way, then catch the lift to the 6th floor. The breakfast area was busy and noisy but staff took our orders promptly and the full Welsh breakfast arrived quickly. Tea and coffee also arrived quickly but we felt we were being rushed out.
We enjoyed our visit. For visiting the New Theatre, this location was ideal and close to both car park and buses too. Not too expensive either.

Stayed at the Indigo Hotel in Central Cardiff on the 28th of March for one night Rooms are clean and tidy not very big though Bed was queen sized eventually on floor 3 there were only 2 skylights for light coming into the room Breakfast was included in this price and it was good but if I wanted porridge and then a hot Breakfast off the Menu this was not allowed as you could only order one item off it. There was a good selection of dishes on there but I don’t think porridge should be included as a full Breakfast Substitute unless that’s all you want. Think you are really paying for the position the hotel is in .Must say though the Staff at the Hotel were Fantastic and were always happy to help.

Absolutely brilliant hotel. The staff were very attentive, particularly Callum.
It was a very quirky hotel with gorgeous pictures, art and lighting. The rooms and bathroom were impeccably clean with beautiful shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash and hand cream.
Breakfast was delicious with fruit, cooked breakfast and pastries.
I would highly recommend this hotel.

Ok, the reception smells stunning I need to know the scent. It was my husbands birthday and we'd been drinking cocktails all afternoon.

Check in, stunning, the lady with the pride badge pin checked us in and she made us feel special, she was kind, funny and as a man who's worked in hotels all over the world she's top draw.

The room was lovely, themed like a back stage of the show and this was great, the windows opened and we had an iron in the room already. The shower was STUNNING and the shampoo and conditioner smelled out of this world. Clean smart and perfect.

The location is so central it's ridiculous and the car park is less than a 5 minute walk away with an outstanding discount!

We went to the roof for cocktails and this handsome gentleman with the best moustache in the world served us, we didn't see the cocktail we wanted on the menu. This man said, what ever you want, if I can make it I will. We ordered 2 that were not on the menu! He made them to perfection. We drank them as we looked over the beautiful Cardiff skyline from the roof. STUNNING!

The sleep was perfect in a beautiful room with awesome air conditioning.

Breakfast, the staff were so helpful and lovely. Food, great quality and perfectly cooked.

Check out easy and fun.

We will only stay in this hotel when we visit Cardiff x Thank you x

Amazing hotel in central position with lots of character. Staff on reception very helpful in taking our shopping bags to stop them getting wet in the rain whilst we went for lunch awaiting our room. Our room was brilliant with a Welsh industry theme. We had 2 double beds and a lovely bathroom and had some complementary beverages and crisps as well as a great coffee machine. After a full day shopping we felt this was like coming home and made for a very comfortable evening’s rest. The next morning we explored the rest of the hotel and the fabulous 6th floor restaurant where we tucked into a lovely Welsh breakfast. There is a cosy area downstairs and a coffee shop which was closed the morning we were there. We didn’t park in the greyfriars but it only cost £25 for 26 hours at the at David’s centre car park which was just opposite in the shopping centre making it very easy to leave cases on arrival and return on leaving . The staff were so accommodating and friendly and nothing was too much trouble . The ginger fragranced MYDDFAI Welsh toiletries were amazing. Thanks Hotel Indigo for making our stay a special one. I would return here on my next visit to Cardiff as it is the nicest hotel I’ve stayed in Wales and I’ve been to a few !

We booked a room and specifically paid extra (£150 for a Queen Premium Room and can honestly say it was underwhelming. I can’t see where our extra money was justified. The wardrobe is approximately 5 inches wide, there is one rocking chair so only one person can sit, we specifically asked at reception to fix our shampoo bottle and nothing was coming out - our request was ignored. As we were only staying one night, it looks like we were given a room that was designed for one night stays, certainly not what we requested. Not sure I’d go back to this hotel.

This was a disappointing stay for me and my friend. We checked in for a gig nearby at the castle so the location was fine, but the room was small with no windows ( they had blocked them over as clearly they faced out to a wall but no natural light and feeling very claustrophobic wasn't ideal for either of us. The air con only went down to hot so the room was unbearable with no air ( and no windows)

We went up to the Marco Pierre White bar for a drink on the terrace and the staff member that served us clearly hates their job, no niceties and very blunt and snappy. We ordered a cocktail off the menu each which promised all sorts of lovely things in it including edible flowers, Whatever we got was just some syrup and prosecco in a glass - no flowers etc, for the price ( about £12 each) it was really disappointing. We didn't go back and complain because honestly we were a little nervous we would get shouted at by the lady on the bar. She didn't look happy.

We've both had a tough time recently and the little things do matter when you are paying and trying to cheer yourself up. It was all disappointing.

Dear hayleyK001, Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback regarding your recent stay. I'm very sorry to hear you did not enjoy yourselves during your time hear and that you found your room to be small. You are correct in that some of our rooms contain frosted glass. This has been done for privacy reasons as some rooms face into other guest bedrooms and so to ensure privacy is guaranteed, the windows had to be covered. I'm very sorry that you found this to be an inconvenience. Our air conditioning does have a cold setting and instructions are provided on the welcome letter you would have received upon check in. If you required further assistance or preferred another room, we would've happily relocated you to another room and given extra assistance to help you figure out how to change the temperature settings on the air conditioning unit. Regarding your visit to the Marco Pierre White bar, I can only apologise for this and reassure you that we will investigate why our team did not provide the true Welsh hospitality that we train our team to provide. I have shared this feedback with the operations manager to review and we will also use you feedback as training to ensure this occurrence does not happen again. If you do look to return to us in the future, please feel free to get in touch with myself using the contact details below and I'd be happy to organise and oversee your next stay to ensure you have a great time! Once again, please accept my apologies for the issues you encountered and I hope you will look to return in the future. We chose the Hotel Indigo for a one night stay in Cardiff, prior to attending a family wedding nearby on the following day, having previously enjoyed stays in Hotel Indigo in York and Stratford-Upon-Avon.

The hotel entrance is in a shopping arcade, and therefore it is a little difficult to park nearby to unload luggage and we had to park on a yellow line in a service road at the back of the hotel. The arcade itself looks a little tired and therefore the first impression of the hotel is not particularly good.

However, once in the hotel the experience was good. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly, and our rooms were individually styled with different themes, were well furnished and equipped, and the bathroom had a really good power shower.

Our rate did not include breakfast as we intended to have a light breakfast in the hotel coffee shop, but unfortunately that was closed, so we purchased breakfast at the hotel for £12.50 which was very good, including a good choice of hot and cold dishes. We didn’t use the bar of the hotel so can’t comment on that, as we decided to see what Cardiff had to offer for evening food and drinks, and the hotel is very well located to easily access the bars and restaurants of central Cardiff.

There is an NCP car park nearby and the hotel has arrangements for guests to pay a reduced rate.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Indigo, and can recommend it for a city break in Cardiff.
