I have to say that the staff at the Copthorne hotel have been lovely throughout the past year, especially with COVID/lockdown etc. They made the stay as nice as possible considering the situation and were always polite and attenuative. Unfortunately the food is hit and miss, quite a few occasions where it was cold or you could tell it had been under a hot lamp, as it was dried out. The lighting in the rooms is very poor, and the décor is very outdated.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay, its always great to pass on such feedback to our staff who work hard to make sure guests have a positive experience during this difficult time . As my collegue said many times. The staff need some WD40. Breakfast routine changed every day. Ordering of food on a night was also a bit confusing. The 4 star hygiene rating was a little off putting. Considering these trying times. I hate that saying, for a hotel like this it should be a breaze as the occupancy is much less. Th hotel itself has not changed. I stayed here in 2014 and it is the same. I think the filth around the extract fan was there when i was last here. It's far from modern but it needs some seriousl investment to bring up to a good modern standard. Why stay here ? location to Cardiff, easy access to the main roads, Erm.

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to see you found some issues, we are receiving a lot of very positive comments about our Covid procedures and most guests are finding our ordering systems simple and effective in the challenging circumstances we find ourselves in. I will of course look again at these to see if they can be made less confusing. I will pass your comments onto the team kind regards

An overnight stay, entrance & exterior of this building certainly need a good jet wash & tidy up, would make such a difference & lighting needed on the mini roundabout outside. Rooms extremely dated in decor & appearance with some areas of the carpet worn, woodwork chipped etc. However extremely clean & good quality beds & bedlinen. Usual Tea/Coffee making, TV, Hairdryer, Ironing facilities etc. All the staff we encountered were exceptionally polite, informative & definately following all Covid 19 measures, totally adhering to all aspects. The breakfast, limited to say the least ! Never ever been to a hotel where you couldn't order a Fried or Poached Egg but could have Scrambled. Clearly when the breakfast arrived , you could see it had all been pre cooked & reheated, thus the reason for the lack of freshly cooked eggs. Service station feel to the food but quality staff feel to the two female waitresses. So basically some small improvements to bring this to the quality 4 star it should be . The Staff really make this hotel what it is !

Hotel had just come out of local lockdown. Yes, it’s dated, but clean and efficient. Menu at dinner very limited, but given the circumstances everyone is doing their best to ensure people have a good stay. Reception staff are good, and a particular ‘shout out’ to Mel from the breakfast team and Antony in the restaurant for their positivity!
