Stayed at the Campanile in Cardiff for one night, good place to stop, local buses to the centre of Cardiff run frequently and only take approx. 30min. Room basic but clean, comfy and most importantly felt safe. Fans available from reception. Friendly staff at check-in and the hotel bar. Didn't opt for breakfast but there is a Lidl, Greggs and Costa nearby.
My company booked me in here for 5 days! they must really hate me ! it resembles a prison camp for world war 2 and venturing into the rooms ahh no its like a 50s chalet from Hidehi all it needs is Peggie to clean because that is lacking to !! the chipped battle grey paint is a delight ! the rooms have not seen much attention since it opened ! maybe in the 1950s breakfast was a nightmare good job eggs and bacon can swim as they would drawn in stinking fat ! if your 4 feet tall you can shower under a trickle of cold water! any taller forget it! if your on a budget bring a tent or sleep in the car it will be more comfortable jeezzz what a shambles. come on campanile where is that sparkle have you given up on the business
Not one for writing bad reviews but I feel its needed. The manager here, Eric I believe his name really runs this place down. This man is a real aggressive bully and its unbelievable that a hotel would have somebody like this to run it, who has no clue at all how to work in the hospitality industry. The hotel isn't great in itself either, the rooms are grotty and they smell like wet dog. I would really avoid this place.
The first room I was allocated was to the rear of the bedroom block on the ground floor. On entry I noticed a strange strong smell, I left the main door open to try and get rid of the smell. After an hour, I realised it was a dog smell, so I called reception and they said I could change rooms. This room was on level 1 facing the hotel reception. It still smelt slightly but not as bad as the previous one. I appreciate it is only a budget hotel so I didn't set my sights too high. On returning to the room after eating dinner away from the hotel, I was surprised to see there were no lights along the outside corridor so had to make my way carefully along the outside corridor. Not good for health and safety. The cooked breakfast was OK except the baked beans were cold.
We had a lovely break here in Cardiff. The hotel was clean and welcoming. All the staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. We found the rooms to be very clean, although basic and would benefit from updating. However, the hotel was very good value and the staff were exceptional!
