The closest hotel to the Principality (formerly the Millennium) Stadium gates, The Royal Hotel is the oldest of all the Cardiff hotels and has been welcoming guests to our fantastic city since it first opened it's doors in 1866. Our rich history includes the Captain Scott Room, where Captain Scott and his expedition team held their final public banquet before setting sail to the South Pole. Recently refurbished with free Wi-Fi throughout, the Hotel is an oasis of boutique charm above the hustle and bustle of Cardiff city centre. We also have two rooftop beehives, which you can visit and even try some of the honey they have produced!

I stayed here overnight with my Granddaughter who wanted to look at the Uni. Was a bit of a mix up on arrival as we were not booked in but this was a communication error on a booking site. This was resolved really quickly by the Manaager. There is a NCP car park nearby which

"We have hypnos mattresses " sure, but even those can't put up with abuse. Evidently some person/ hordes of people jumped or did something particularly atrocious on the one I'm unfortunately sleeping on. The right side of the mattress is so worn or that you feel like rolling off
