Travelodge Cardiff Central Queen Street is often praised for its clean, modern rooms and comfortable beds, though it's not without its drawbacks as some guests have experienced noise disturbances. The hotel's cleanliness across both rooms and common areas earns high marks, and the staff is lauded for being accommodating and professional. While its central location is ideal for exploring nearby attractions, it comes with the caveat of potential noise from outside, especially from a neighboring nightclub. Opinions on value and amenities vary, with some guests finding the hotel to offer good affordability and others pointing out additional costs and basic offerings.

We brought our two young children to Cardiff for a city break during the half term. We chose to stay at travelodge due to the extremely affordable price and the excellent location. Upon arrival we last minute decided we needed an early check in, the staff done everything they could to accommodate this at the very small extra charge which we were more than happy to pay. We were greeted with a smile, it was airy and clean. My daughters absolutely loved the room, it was basic but had more than what it needed, including a bath which is great when travelling with young children. We experienced a drink in the newly refurnished bar, the staff were extremely attentive and helpful. Night time was very peaceful, the whole of Cardiff was literally on the doorstep which is ideal when trying to navigate around with children. Check in and check out was so quick and easy. Will definitely be staying here again!

Great hotel stay here many times and always got a friendly welcome from the reception.
Room are tidy clean and just what one needs for a stay towels are white ones you in most hotels two big bath and to hand towels provided coffee and tea making in room the rooms can be bit warm side for some however there was a fan and window opens enough to keep some air flowing the show is fixed over head be careful as the shower tray can be slippery I put one hand towels on the tray to stop myself slipping also one can flood the bathroom if showers curtains isn't inside the tray.
There bar that has happy our and a range of evening meals if don't fancy going out to eat the breakfast are nice but bit pricey compared to a wetthespoons which two are not far from the hotel. If not big breakfast eater there a very good Greggs or Tim Hortons opposite the hotels

At this hotel staff were very friendly, hotel is in the perfect location, but inside the room, you can’t hear any noise from the town. Food at the hotel was very nice, however for some reason kitchen wasn’t open at some days. But overall stay was really good.

As a wheelchair user, this hotel really isn't very accessible, with tiny corridors and heavy manual doors throughout. Having requested a room close to the lift and specified this was for a wheelchair user, I was surprised to find I could barely fit the wheelchair into the room (it's a small, folding, manual wheelchair), let alone going to the extreme of turning around!

We were disappointed to find that a "twin room" is comprised of a small double, plus a tiny single camp bed with one pillow and a dirty mirror for a headboard. I'm sure I selected the option for two single beds on the website and the booking email confirms it was a twin, but reception advised that all twin rooms are set up with camp beds.

The very small room plus the camp bed set up meant the desk was rendered useless and we could only make tea and coffee while actually sat on the camp bed, which would be far from ideal for anyone, and was especially difficult for someone with limited mobility.
The room wasn't very clean and we ended up getting some polish and a cloth from reception to clean the mirror and bathroom surface, which were covered in hair and sticky fingerprints.

We went to the surprisingly quiet bar at around 5:30pm for some food and a beer. Unfortunately, one of the three lagers had already run out and the food (one pizza, nachos, falafels and two chips) took almost an hour to arrive.
The food was OK for the money, apart from the falafels which were unlike anything I've ever eaten and definitely wouldn't recommend.
There was also some comedy 'sparkling' water which was completely flat; the staff were very apologetic and replaced the bottle twice, but they were all the same. Not sure if this was due to a storage issue or possibly a dodgy batch from the supplier, though.

The hotel was fully booked so we couldn't ask to change room. Thankfully we only stayed for one night so made do, but for £275.99 it really wasn't up to scratch. If Travelodge insist on hiking prices by over 200% when there's an event at the stadium, I feel the very least they should do is ensure the rooms are clean and they order enough lager to last the night!

Stayed here for 2 nights, the first night which was a Sunday was marred by loud "house" type music coming from a nightclub nearby, got up feeling like a wet blanket in the morning ! The second night was much better with the music turned down, was able to catch up on lost sleep. The hotel is central for all activities in Cardiff, seems to be new or recently refurbished, nice clean very basic rooms but functional, staff were friendly, did not use the restaurant as the breakfast in the Manchester Travelodge was not nice, but would stay here again as long as I would be given a room away from the Queen Street end which is where the music was coming from.

Just back from staying at this hotel last night. 2 stars max for this hotel and both of these are because the night staff were very helpful during the one night I stayed here with business colleagues. The hotel is in the centre of Cardiff but has no attached or discounted parking (it cost us £30 to park at the nearby NCP carpark for the night!). The hotel itself is very basic but the price reflected this (less than £50 each for one night). The biggest problem is that the hotel is opposite a nightclub which plays music until 4am in the morning. And of course you have lots of people then shouting and drunk in the street outside with some of them actually staying in the hotel so coming in drunk and banging doors and shouting.

The night staff were very helpful throughout and almost seemed apologetic because of the state of the place the music and some of the guests. They helped me to swap rooms as the one allocated had a broken door lock and they were happy to supply plates and cutlery for two of us who arrived very late and had only a take-away for supper.

So not a great experience and no sleep for my one night here - I will not be staying here again, nor recommending to friends and colleagues.

Stayed here for the night whilst celebrating a friend’s 30th. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

We ordered a very large amount of food at short notice and the staff made no issue at all. Everything was cooked perfectly (and the pizza’s were amazing).

The hotel is situated pretty much dead centre in the ‘high street’ and there’s a really great nightlife in Cardiff, but we didn’t hear anything from our room. Also, if you book a hotel in the middle of a city and then complain that it’s loud, then you need to take a long look at yourself and ask if you’re making good life choices.

a brilliant little travel lodge, it had everything we could have wanted for a short stay. staff were very informative and friendly. they had kettle and tea/coffee making items, all utensils were clean, bed were very comfortable and soft, and had the option of a sheet or a duvet, they had a standing fan also and two hairs to sit in. Bathroom was well kept, stocked with toilet rolls and towels were nice and clean. Some noise from outside on the street but being in Cardiff city during concert time, that is expected. No noise from next doors, walls thick enough to drown out sound. all in all the room was perfect.

I loved my stay here. Booked the room for me and a friend who was visiting Cardiff for it's shops and nightlife. For the price, I wasn't expecting much but this hotel exceeded all expectations.

The staff were great from the get go, very accomodating and welcoming. I felt I could approach them and they helped me with every query. The bar was lovely, chilled and a great atmosphere created. It was quiet, and I got a wicked night's sleep here!

The room was amazing. Great value for money, clean, tidy, extra pillows if needed, temperature was perfect and it had everything you need, including teas and coffees etc.

Security at night made the hotel feel safe and the chap was a lovely guy.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel. I will definitely be coming back!

This is in a great location but surrounded by pubs & bars so be prepared for noise. in view of that, I booked a standard plus room on the top floor, ended up at the back of the hotel so was much quieter in comparison to a room on a lower floor near the front. Room clean, tidy, everything you needed but it was quite hot as summer decided to show up, no air-con in the room but reception found me a (quite loud) fan but did the trick. Reception staff all really friendly & approachable.

Sadly what you can't prepare for are inconsiderate guests. Presumably by booking a standard plus 3rd floor room they were also looking for a little quiet, but various guests had no problems in slamming doors at 11.40pm Saturday & at 3.10am & 5.20am on Sunday as they were coming in. Sunday night / Monday morning was OK though. While I'd would book again for weekdays, I'd probably so elsewhere on a weekend.
