We stayed overnight on 6th April 2021 and what a wonderful welcome. Everyone we came into contact with were very COVID-19 aware and were courteous and helpful. Special thanks to the delightful young lady in reception who checked us in - Leanne? - which went really smoothly, to Charlotte who brought us our evening meal and the equally delightful young lady who checked us out. Nice to learn I believe that checking out is at 12 noon. Our room on the 7th floor afforded us spectacular views of the construction work going on in the city centre ( this is not being sarcastic and it certainly did not impinge on our stay) and was well appointed. We even had use of complimentary bath robes & slippers which was a welcome surprise. Naturally meals were to be taken in the room and we were most impressed by the choice on offer : We had crispy falafel bites & hot n spicy chicken wings both with the accompaniment of sweet chilli dip as a starter then battered cod & chips and Thai green curry for the main course. Full up we settled for the Neapolitan ice cream for dessert. Our break meant we also had a complimentary bottle of “ bubbles “ to go with our meal. Breakfast was absolutely sumptuous and lacked nothing - orange juice, coffee, fruit salad, croissants, toast along with a full cooked breakfast. I especially enjoyed the black pudding. On our floor was an ice machine and a helpful male member of staff could see I was having a little difficulty and without prompting sallied forth and came back with a full ice bucket. Well done young man. Our room also had a coffee machine in addition to a kettle and the usual tea & coffee facilities plus the addition of an iron and ironing board, and a hairdryer Unusually we also had the use of a limited amount of Sky tv Air conditioning also in the room plus additional pillows, towels etc The only downside and this is a very minor point was that the bed was not the most comfortable but perhaps it was just us. This is a first rate hotel with professional staff who obviously care. It’s a great pity that Cardiff is still in a state of lockdown as this hotel is in easy walking distance from most attractions and literally across the road from the railway station otherwise we could have stayed for longer. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and it makes a great base to explore further afield. Anne & Digby Davies-Thomas .…
I came to Cardiff for work. My first impression of the hotel was that the room and the floor I was staying at are old and the hallway is not clean enough. But what I really liked that staff are very friendly, professional and willing to work. Breakfast was very delicious and huge portion , and when I asked to bring extra croissants they did in a few minutes, though I’m on the 9th floor. Thank you.
Thanks so much to all the staff that made my stay so comfortable! In these challenging times I felt overwhelmingly safe and welcomed. Location could not be better and the room was spacious and immaculate. Highly recommended!
I don’t often leave reviews but just wanted to shoutout Fiona on the front desk for being so friendly and helpful on a particularly stressful day. She is a real credit to the Clayton hotel. Thanks Fiona 😌
First class care and service during these strange times makes my stay(s) here as normal as it can be. Many thanks to all the staff 👍 Breakfast and dinner delivered promptly freshly warm and most tasty.
