I've been staying at Jolyons for the past 3 years as it has a very convenient location, 5 mins walk to Cardiff Castle. On my arrival a very nice and helpful girl called Milen informed me that the place is under new management, something that you can see straight away. The old and shabby bar is gone, alongside with the...

We came down to see an opera. We had a suite on floor 4 which was very spacious. A very comfortable bed. Lovely little extras such as a toaster, a fridge, crockery and proper wine glasses. Complimentary bottled water. Nice toiletries in the bathroom but which was a bit restricted space wise - The shower was amazing and there was...

I have stayed at Jolyon's many times and stayed once again in January 2017. The hotel layout has changed and the bar area/reception is now 'upgraded' and refurbed...but in my view has completely ripped the character out of the place in these areas. Staff remain polite and approachable as ever, I was disappointed to find that the hotel has stopped...

So, got given a secret birthday weekend at Jolyons. My girlfriend and I love staying in little boutique hotels and she had gone and booked this for the weekend. She had mentioned to the lady that it was my birthday and they upgraded the room, however when we arrived they had upgraded one more time to a SUITE room. Barbara...

Room was clean, but hot and noisy (i was there during November). The evening meal was over priced for what it was and there were only serving until 8pm. The breakfast however was fine but no toast offered. Having said that the location was perfect for me attending the SWALEC stadium and the staff were OK.

Picture the scene: you have been up since dawn, travelling all day. You arrive at your hotel, looking forward to relaxing. There is an event on in the function room - pounding beat and happy voices from time of arrival until early evening. It stops, finally. Bliss. At 20.00 a "party event" starts up in Sophia Gardens, right behind your...

Had two nights at Jolyons, we had a Suite. Very comfy bed, but the best bit of the room was the bath, just the right size and the taps are so rapid at filling it up. If only the therapy lights were working it would've added to the enjoyment. Nice staff and friendly and helpful.

This hotel is a strange place and my view is that it doesn't know what it wants to be. It is billed as boutique and certainly the converted house it's in would fit that category, but doesn't fulfill the promise of their website. They promote stylish rooms with funky furnishings - well my room 305 certainly wasn't funky - it...
