Would actually rate this hotel as good rather than very good. Managed to find a space in the underground car park despite the sign saying it was full! The cost was £16 per night. Check in was quick and we had a huge room on the 5th floor containing arm chairs and a large bathroom with separate shower and bath. The a/c was not really working so we switched it off to allow the room to cool down. This worked for us. Breakfast was good, bearing in mind covid regulations which limited some options. There was usually a queue for the hot food where one hard working person provided a good service without any apparent support. We didn't try the spa area. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the start of the pedestrianised area and about 20 mins to the castle. We enjoyed our visit to the castle and the boat trip to the Bay, returning on the route 6 bus to the centre. Cardiff is great for a short city break and has some really excellent restaurants, particularly the European ones.

Had a lovely time at the hotel, the staff were all incredibly helpful. Breakfast was good given the restrictions in place. Slept well & the room was comfortable and clean. Looking forward to returning here soon

Very clean and spacious. It’s not a four star in reality. In fact I would barely give it 2, other than the modern decoration. The rooms are cheaply made and there’s a distinct lack of anything extra. Eg the coffee machine was not working, there was no iron in the room, the tv volume wouldn’t go up past 24 and the bathroom was very basic. The bathroom was tiny (you couldn’t swing a cat). And you had to do an Olympic style manoeuvre to be able to close the door as it clashed with the shower guard. The mirror in the room was dirty. I had forgotten to pack toothpaste so the man at reception hesitated to give me a tiny tube which he said he had to spend ages looking for. Breakfast was dreadful…and I mean dreadful. One chef on in the morning whose uniform was covered in food splat which looked weeks old. Potions were tiny snd you felt guilty for asking for more. It may be just Covid that means it’s like this? But the offering at breakfast was dreadful. I would avoid snd go somewhere independent for the price you’d pay here.

Room and facilities were great. Breakfast tasty. The staff at breakfast, particularly Edevaldo, were very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The industry need more people like him. Location ideal for the centre.
