I’m attempting to write a charitable review of this once-loved establishment. On arrival we were told that the pool was out of service following a boiler fire and when I asked if it would be working again during our 3 day stay, the answer was “I doubt it as it’s been out of service for a couple of years now”. With a family of young children and my disabled step-daughter, easy access to the pool was going to be the highlight of the holiday. We then waited till 15:30 to be able to check into our room (check in from 14:00). Prior to our arrival my husband had been attempting to phone the Dragon to get an emailed confirmation, and the phone was never answered. We could now see why, one lady was running reception who was fairly new and trying her best, but another lady was trying to help her with queries and clean the rooms at the same time. We later saw her serving breakfast too. Very short staffed and the communal areas and toilets on the second floor had not been cleaned for some time. The breakfast was under staffed and many guests ended up getting their own orange juice and cereals because the service was so slow. The breakfast on arrival was passable, but nothing compared to the luxury and choice given in past visits. I completely understand that Covid 19 and Brexit has made life very difficult for the hotel trade, but this is clearly an establishment on its knees to the extent my 9 yr old wanted to run a cake sale to get them some money to be able to open the pool. The location, as ever, is perfect for Swansea and the bay and the family room was as good as ever, the gym was open and in good order but the lack of pool (not mentioned on website or at time of booking) and the slow slow slow wait for our room to be ready with excited step daughter and kids made us reconsider our options to the extent of using the free WiFI to try to book elsewhere. Our room condition, when we actually got into it, was good and we had lots planned in the area so we stayed. The staff were working SO hard to help guests and were very friendly, particular shout out to the waitress with the multicoloured hair and the lady in the black crocheted cardigan who seemed to be the hotel’s girl fridays. We probably won’t visit again which is a shame as it was an easy go- to for an extended family holiday. Fingers crossed for some staff and a pool re-boot.

Booked for a night away with my mum via booking.com. Good points: ° Hotel is a fantastic central location. ° Staff at the front desk couldn't have been more poilet and helpful. °Very large loby with lots of sofas, towards the back was the huge 18mt swimming pool, gym and sauna. ° twin room was huge, had a fridge, tea/coffee facilities, 2 tub chairs & a walk in wardrobe °spotlessley clean °The breakfast was included and it was great. Bad Points: ° rooms are VERY dated. ° the carpet was all lifting and loose. °walls slightly stained ° shower was extremely difficult to shut off, had to go to reception for maintenance ° breakfast staff was a little rude (1 in particular) however they where run off their feet There is no way that this is a 4 star hotel as advertised, it might have been a few years ago but it needs way to much work to bring it back to that standard. However saying that it was perfect for a one night stay and I would book again

Most certainly a budget hotel! Small room (even though it was a double), small bed and windows which are locked shut. An uncomfortable nights sleep due to the temperature. Breakfast was pretty disappointing, standard full English all fried and uninspiring. On the plus side, the staff were wonderful!

i honestly dont know what other people are complaining about with this hotel. double room 314 was perfectly fine, clean bed and room large bathroom. however only a view over the back car park but hey your not in your room much. found all staff everywhere in hotel to be very polite and helpful. stayed half board and the food was good. had a lovely coach driver named eric who couldnt have been more helpful. couldnt say the same for our tour guide though mrs trunchbull. 2 major niggles with hotel, they do not provide a smoking shelter or seat anywhere out side which they could easily do. also booked this hotel on the understanding the indoor pool would be open. sadly this was not the case due to a couple of cracked tiles, but when i looked in pool was running and could easily have opened, such a shame. if i ever visit swansea again i wouldnt hesitate booking this hote.

This hotel is probably the worst ive ever stayed in that I've booked via booking.com ..The hotel is very tired looking, looks filthy and upon arrive there was a homeless drunk person asleep on one of the sofa's in the reception area to greet us !!! Hardly a surprise when the reception area was not always manned and there is no security.despite being right in centre of town centre..I had booked 2 disabled rooms, one of which was on the 7th floor top of the hotel thank god i was not in a wheelchair and there was no fire i would of perished for sure!! The carpet was old stained and had ripples throughout it felt very unsafe, the vents, furniture and headboard were all dirty & stained, the shower did not work property just a dribble at best, i was told by staff this was due to low pressure and everyone using it at 6pm and it being an old building...So imagine my surprise when at 6.30am following day it was exactly the same but to add insult to injury the shower and fittings actually fell off the wall landed on me in the shower !!! It was a good job i was able to call my husband for help because had i been on my own on the 7th floor lying on the bathroom floor with injuries there's no way i could of raised the alarm !!! It really was like something out of fawlty towers i was waiting for Manuel to jump out the cupboard!! Heather the duty manger came up to look at the fiasco and to check i was ok, for which i was grateful she was concerned and promised an investigation, however this really could of been alot more serious, these checks should of been completed prior to guests arriving especially for someone who is not able bodied in a disabled room the dragon certainty did not meet these standards...This hotel needs a full overhaul it is not safe, or covid clean in all area's especially when people from outside can just walk in and take a nap on one of the sofa's without being noticed..To be honest i am surprised this hotel is still in operation the only good thing about the hotel is the central location ...Bookings.com should be embarrassed to be selling this hotel on their site its an accident waiting to happen..
