Detailed Reviews
We stayed as a family for two nights last week and found this to be an ideal location for visiting the city centre.
We have a friend in Belfast who told us about the station around the road which gave us direct access to the Titanic Quarter for a small charge, and we used Uber to get back to the Crown from the hotel for a meal one evening which was a reasonable cost.
The rooms were lovely and clean, we had a meal in the hotel the first night which was from a basic menu but lovely all the same, and breakfast provided a very good selection of hot and cold buffet style food.
My only complaint is that we asked the hotel to freeze some cold blocks for our cool box in which we have our son's haemophilia medication. When they came back to us the following morning they had simply been placed into a fridge and not frozen at all.

We stayed here at the start of the month as we had stayed before and knew how convenient it was to the city centre. Our first night was a little disappointing as there were kids running the corridors late at night and a lot of noise from next door. But after speaking with the lovely gentleman on reception the next day we were moved to a new room. Staff were friendly and helpful, there was plenty of hand sanitiser for all guests and plenty of space to sit in the reception/foyer area to have some food and drinks. A little disappointed with breakfast as personally I feel if they had staggered times and bookings then it would be possible to serve people breakfast at their tables or guests to help themselves while observing social distance. Overall a good stay and would be happy to return in the near future

Good location to be able to explore the city, bit of a walk out of the way but nothing too much - not far from botanical gardens etc.
Breakfast was really good every morning- didn’t run out of any items and everything hot.
Staff were polite and friendly,
Room was okay. I am glad that I cancelled my original booking and rebooked at a lower price, as I would have been disappointed if I had paid anymore for it than I did.
Room wasn’t particularly clean, lots of dust, hairs in the bed and stains on the carpet, very aged. Booked a double room with double sofa bed , paying extra for this. Pulled the sofa bed out and it wasn’t fit for use. The mattress was springy and uncomfortable and thin, so don’t rely on this,
I would stay at this hotel again, but don’t expect much - I have stayed at multiple holiday inns and did expect more than this but for the sake of a few days and a partner that doesn’t like complaining it was fine.
Word of advice, if you are flying in from Belfast International airport, do not use the taxis from the airport, we were charged £40 for a taxi from airport to the hotel, the bloke actually smiled as he took our money! For the return trip we booked an Uber and this cost us £26. It was much quicker too!

Hello Peewee90, Thank you for taking your time to leave a review regarding your recent stay with us; I am pleased to hear that our location suited you and that you liked our breakfast. I am really disappointed to hear about your experience with the bedroom. Please let me explain that this isn't up to our usual standards and that should not have happened. I wish you brought this up with our reception team at the time so we could have solved this for you right away and move you to another room and make your stay more pleasant. I hope we can welcome you back again soon and prove that we are worth coming back. Kind Regards, Kate Kostka Front Office Manager

Check in was nice and easy with the lady at reception. She was very nice. I asked if I needed to book a time slot for breakfast only to be told that breakfast was a "grab a bag". I enquired as to how this worked as I am coeliac. I was told that I could have the yogurt and maybe a banana. I was not happy and expressed this as at no point on the website was this stated.
Up to the room we go.
Basic is one word. This might suit some people and to be honest I'm usually ok with basic but this was on another level. No wardrobe only a stand with a few hangers. We did get an ironing board to be fair but this was hanging on the stand so space for clothes was very limited. The room appeared clean at a glance but as we got more acquainted with it there were short cuts taken one of which was the kettle which was absolutely filthy on the outside from god knows what. I did say this at reception and I was told that a clean one would be provided. It never appeared. Thank God I brought a gallon of ethanol with me to wipe down everything and spray the beds with.
The beds are very uncomfortable along with the heat in the room. Five minutes in the room and we were sweating. Bye bye sleep.
Hello breakfast -not. I understand in the times we are navigating that some things have to change but the system in place at this hotel is disgraceful. You line up in the morning and tell the person behind a table if you want a bap bag (bacon bap carton of juice a yogurt and an apple)or a continental bag( a croissant carton of juice an apple and a tiny muffin) and then you line up again for tea or coffee in takeaway cups.
My breakfast was 2 yogurts - they ran out of fruit. You could either eat in the lobby or your room as they would prefer.
Again I spoke to another person at reception about this and was told that I didn't have to eat in the hotel as there were a lot of places to eat in the city.
There is no need whatsoever for this system only they dont wan
t the bother of it and Covid has given them the perfect excuse. This system is lazy , cheap and an insult to paying customers.
This hotel is probably more suited to the business person who only wants a bed but certainly not for any tourist to start their day.

We spent 4 nights at this hotel and found the room to be very comfortable and the location handy for bars, restaurants and shops. We were however very disappointed by the breakfast that is currently on offer and this unfortunately tained our stay.
As breakfast is included, I contacted the hotel upon booking to advise that my husband is dairy free. I was advised that the hotel would be able to accommodate this and I should raise it with reception when checking in. I did this upon arrival, and was told to mention to the breakfast staff in the morning. On the first morning, we discovered that due to Covid restrictions, breakfast is a "grab and go" service, where you simply pick up a prepared bag of yoghurts, cereal bars, butter croissants etc. It seemed complete pot luck what you got in the bag but there was very little my husband could eat. It had not been made clear at the many points I had raised it that breakfast was very limited and did not cater for dietary requirements.
We complained to reception and asked for cereal with soya milk and were told it would be there the next morning. But when we asked for my husband's breakfast the next day there was no cereal or soya milk in sight - he was given the same bag of breakfast bits, just with fewer items in it! All he got was a bacon roll, and apple and an orange juice.
If the hotel had made clear that breakfast was limited and couldn't accommodate allergies, we might have booked somewhere else. We stayed here after spending 10 days travelling around various parts of Ireland where other hotels were able to provide a range of breakfast options that could cater for dietary requirements, all whilst taking the necessary Covid precautions. It's poor form that IHG couldn't offer the same service. Not to mention the environmental impact is horrendous as everything was served in polystyrene boxes with plastic cutlery.

When booking for a family of 4 (2 teenagers) we found that the rooms were quite small for a family however the Hotel Manager went over and above to accommodate us in 2 rooms. Great buffet brekkie and meals 24/7 and even brekkie packs for those that need to leave early for travel. Convenient location and easy 8 to 10 minute walk to centre however we found so much life in the University end with great cafes bars and things to do. They even supply any essentials that you may have forgot or were out of. Great hotel and friendly staff. Thank you!

Arrived by ferry from Liverpool. Booked a taxi that took us straight to the hotel. Great location, few minutes walk to local pubs, restaurants and shops. The town centre is either approx. 15 minute walk via a nice and easy route of £7 taxi ride including tip away.
Check in - arrived very early, Chantel and Davina tried to find us a room but none was available. They offered to look after our cases. We had a quick coffee and got a taxi into the town.
If you are planning a trip on o Sunday take note the shops don't open until 1pm and close at around 5pm. or 6pm. Restaurants and bars will be open as normal.
The bar in the hotel was good and is operated by the reception staff as with most Holiday Inn Expresses. (can get coffee all day!)
Room was very clean in the 'new' part of the hotel. The view was not so good. We overlooked (very close) the back of houses which we could see into their rooms! Very quite just the normal noise from the air con which was OK.
Housekeeping was done daily and very good. Room was very clean, I did not find any dust, just one very tiny (child's) handprint on the full length mirror at the bottom.
Breakfast was well stocked and was replenished on a regular basis, croissants were warm and very good!
Shopping was amazing - a proper high street city full of shops and plenty of very good bars and restaurants that had great prices!
We will stay here again as ALL of the staff were very friendly and would do anything and answer any questions we had!
This was our first visit to Ireland.

We stayed here for 2 nights in September 2020 . It was my first time in Belfast and it is a truly beautiful city.
We arrived early and were told to come back around 1pm to see if there were any rooms available. A young lady gave us an early check in and we went to the room.
The room was adaquate for this standard of hotel. The only thing is you can here EVERYTHING as the walls and ceilings are paper thin, so do NOT expect a good nights sleep! I could even hear someone next door snoring!!
Apart from that it is in a good position , just 15 minute walk to city centre and has plenty of restaurants and cafes in the area. We were blessed with the weather and got to have a good walk around.
The tourist attractions like the Titanic museum is well worth a visit and please do hire a car, as the hotel provide free gated parking and with the car you can go outside Belfast and explore this gorgeous country. We also visited The Dark Hedges and Giants Causeway , which is simply stunning!
Unfortunately due to covid, as with everything the tourists were not there, so we had a lot of space to ourselves!
The breakfast at the hotel is included in the price and was restricted, but they gave you a bag of goodies including a bacon roll, so it was not too bad. They made the most of a bad situation, which the govt. has forced on them and us!
All in all a good stay, i just wish the walls were not so thin :)

Firstly on check in, the hotel attempted to charge me double the price of what the price was that I was given at booking. Then on our second night there was a lot of teenagers staying in the hotel because of a local concert. We had been drinking in the hotel bar and went up to our room and sat down and there was a knock at the door, the bar man telling us there had been a noise complaint made about us, even though we had literally just walked in the door and bought drinks from this same man 5 minutes prior. Literally 5 minutes later a security guard knocked on the door to say there had been “multiple” noise complaints made about us. I challenged him on the fact we had been in the room for about 5 minutes and this was the second knock on the door we had received. We were being accused of making the noise even though there was about 10 teenage girls in a room 2 doors down from us that we could hear even when talking to the security guard. We were accused because we looked young even though we were all mid twenties and literally only talking in the room, what are we supposed to do? Sit there in silence so that we can’t be accused of making too much noise? Then we were going out the next night and we noticed an older man visibly drunk attempting to get into 2 different rooms for at least a half an hour. When we were leaving the hotel I brought it to the attention of reception and I was told “Sorry about that, if he’s still there when you get back, let us know”. A complete lack of help, who knows if he was even a resident of the hotel. To be honest, even though the price was good, I’d never go back here for the pure lack of customer service and safety concerns regarding ransoms trying to get into hotel rooms and complaints not being taken seriously.

Good basic hotel. Staff friendly. Good bar which serves drinks up to 3am. Breakfast ok. Reasonable selection. Couple of pounds gets a taxi to central Belfast or within walking distance if feeling energetic enough. Quiet at night as hotel not close to pubs and clubs. Would stay again.

Regular bus and taxi services. Depends on what time you arrive if late it will be a taxi. Reasonably priced.
Hi There,
Free secure car parking is available at the hotel subject to availability based on a first come first serve basis. Alternatively you may park at the front of the hotel on University street which is also free of charge.
I hope this information is helpful to your needs
Benedict's hotel about 15 min walk is probably one of the best places we went. The food was fantastic and kids very welcome.
