My husband and I had booked to stay in Dukes for the August Bank Holiday weekend on the Sunday night. Booking.com contacted us in mid June to advise Dukes had cancelled our booking. We were not provided with any explanation by the hotel. I would never book this hotel again as I would have no faith in this hotel actually honouring our booking.

The hotel cancelled without an explanation as to why, if I could score less than 1 I would. We will never use again for accommodation or dining. Disgraceful way to deal with guests, reading other reviews it seems this is becoming common practice.

If I could score less than 1 I would do. My partner and I had booked this hotel in February for a 2 night stay in Belfast. We had email confirmation from the hotel and they had responded to a special request we’d made. They had taken the money for the booking 4 days before our arrival. We arrived at the hotel for there to be signs posted on the door saying, ‘closed’. We were told by a man outside to knock on the door. Eventually a security guard arriving, telling ( fairly rudely) that we couldn’t have a booking as they were ‘closed to the general public!’ I showed him my email confirmation he closed the door. Eventually a lady arrived, who wasn’t the manage, saying that again, we couldn’t have a booking! Again I showed her all of my confirmation emails, including the communication directly from the hotel. She simply said, ‘Well it should’ve been cancelled!’ During this conversation, other ‘staff’ entered the building. What would they need staff for if they are closed?! All appeared immensely suspicious. Would not recommend the hotel or the staff. Highly disappointing.

Booked this hotel for May. Have just received a cancellation of our booking due to "overbooking" with no offer of any alternative accommodation. Of course nothing to do with the fact rates have now more than doubled for an equivalent room since tjme of booking. Beware if you need reliable travel plans.

Unfortunately the hotel cancelled our reservation for three suites and a luxury double room a mere three months before our party of seven was to arrive. Someone else offered to buy out the hotel. We are tremendously disappointed, as we booked our accommodations months ago and now are scrambling to find a replacement. A word to the wise that a “reservation” at Duke’s is meaningless of someone else comes along who they’d rather accommodate. We’ve never had this happen anywhere else in the world and are rather shocked and disappointed that Duke’s would do this — decidedly unprofessional and the antithesis of “hospitality.”

We were due to stay here in April to visit family. I had booked the room well in advance, only to be told last night that they have had to cancel my booking due to overbooking. This is shoddy management and a complete lack of organisation. I have had to make other, more costly arrangements. I shall not be giving them my business at any time in the future.

Stayed for a night in a deluxe room with a breakfast slot. The room was lovely, comfortable beds and a spacious en suite. Shower had good water pressure and temperature controls. The breakfast was the real delight however, with a lovely continental section and fast service on the hot food. We had the pancake breakfast and the full fry, both were absolutely gorgeous. Absolutely excellent service with genuinely enjoyable staff, and of course the beautiful venue. 10/10 would stay again!

Stayed for my husbands 50th. The room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed, including a VERY comfortable bed. Location was perfect. Only 20 minute walk into the city, so many places to eat nearby, and free parking on the road outside. The staff are the best. So friendly and helpful. 100% recommend Dukes if you are staying in Belfast

Team here were so friendly and helpful without exception. Really made you welcome. Place is about 15 mins walk from the centre of town but don’t let that worry you. It’s an easy walk, up one road that has lots of bars, coffee shops and restaurants. It’s located within throwing distance of Queens University (with its beautiful red brick campus) and the Botanical Gardens. Rooms are well appointed and spacious. Nice walk-in, large shower. Bathroom was quite modern. Tea and coffee making facilities and a very large comfy super king bed. We had a really good stay.

Great hotel clean room friendly staff nothing is too much bother. Hotel room we got an upgrade on arrival. Food in bar was well done and plentiful we had lunch on day of arrival and an evening meal on the other day all food was well prepared and tasted great. Nothing to fault from our stay from time of arrival to departure. Breakfast was cooked to order again nothing to fault. We will be back and hopefully won’t be another 5 years till we get back
