Easy to find. Dining room is upstairs from the bar,and doesn't have the same pub feel about it , feels more like your eating in someones house. Bit of a squeeze on the space round the tables, but I'm glad there was room for us. Service was excellent, even though they were very very busy, and when the food arrived it was...

This was my first time eating here. I was greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. In my opinion, it was a first class menu choice. After deliberating between the seafood risotto and the pan fried sea bass, I opted for the latter. I was not disappointed. It was beautifully presented. The fish was cooked to perfection and so was the...

We booked one of the Anchor's cottages as a last minute getaway and were very pleasently surprised. The cottage wanted for nothing and was clean, homely and very spacious. There were lovely views out to the sea and Johnshaven is ideally placed to visit many of the local beautiful beaches and attractions. On both nights we dined at the Anchor,...

Every time we visit Johnshaven we always have 2 or 3 bar meals in the Anchor Hotel and never been disappointed with the food yet. The haddock and chips are the best I've tasted anywhere --- any of the seafood choices are worth seeking out. The choice of beers is a credit to the owner and are not what you...

We visited Johnshaven for a weekend break to celebrate my 55th Birthday and booked a meal in the Anchor Hotel based on recommendations we had read. I was at first a wee bit put off by the prices I had seen on the menu but when I saw the presentation and portion sizes being delivered to other dinners my mind...

Family lunch at the Anchor was brilliant, service was a bit slow but the restaurant was very busy as it was Mother's Day. The seafood was brilliant and the service was good. One suggestion is that the menu is almost too extensive.

Had a works get together recently there were 10 of us in total. It was the first time I had visited the Anchor and was not disappointed. The food was delicious. I was worried as I don't like seafood but had the steak which has to be one of the best I have ever tasted. All dishes were lovely presented...
