We popped into the Argyll Hotel in hopes that our rumbling tums could be filled. we weren't disappointed, Nik and Ian were very welcoming and fussed over our Grand Dug Pug, that's a winner right from the start, menu was extensive and reasonably priced, thoroughly enjoyed both courses, such a lovely setting too, could spend a fair few days here...

We stayed here for a few days with my elderly father and were delighted with this hotel. It is right on the beach with a large terrace to enjoy the view over to Isla & Jura. Comfortable rooms and charming staff who made us feel most welcome. Highly recommend.

We have just returned from a two night stay at this wonderful hotel. To say we enjoyed it is an understatement. We had our miniature schnauzer with us and he, along with us could not have been made more welcome. The owners Ian and Nick are the most welcoming and friendly hoteliers we have ever come across. From the minute...

We had a wonderful time at the hotel. Staff were the most helpful and friendly I have come across in any hotels I have stayed in, in the past. The dogs were made most welcome and we weren't made to feel they were a nuisance. We ate in the hotel for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food was very...

I stayed overnight here on 25th March. What a beautiful location. As I was attending a function in Campbeltown I did not eat dinner at the hotel but the afternoon cream tea and vegetarian breakfast were excellent. The conservatory restaurant looks out over the beach and across to Isaly and Jura. Amazing views and stunning sunset. The staff and owners...

My OH and I decided to book and impromptu get away after seeing the special 3 night dinner bed and breakfast offer for March on FB. We had an evening meal here last year, whilst staying nearby, so knew a little bit about the hotel already. The hotel is very dog friendly which was perfect for us, as we wanted...

This was our first break away with our two dogs. Lovely warm welcome by the owners who have two dogs. We didn't stay at the hotel, we were in a caravan virtually next door. It is a dog friendly hotel where dogs can stay. We were allowed in the bar area with the dogs. Staff very friendly and accommodating, making...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Argyll Hotel sits on Bellochantuy bay, 10 miles north of Campbeltown on the beautiful Kintyre peninsula. It is a small hotel with eight bedrooms, most boasting sea views of the Atlantic across to the islands of Islay, Jura and Gigha. The conservatory restaurant and lounge area give panoramic views of the ocean and islands too. A great place to chill and relax and of course to eat, with lunches and dinners served daily. Sit on our outdoor terrace and listen to the waves cascading onto the white sandy beach of the curved bay. The terrace leads directly onto the beach where you can walk off your dinner or build up your appetite before dinner. A great place too for children to play or to walk your dog. The hotel dates back to the late eighteenth century when it was built as a coaching inn and has remained as a hotel to this day. Modernised over the years, the hotel still retains the feel of an old west coast hotel with is cosy snug bar, but has the modern conveniences of en suite rooms with TV, free wi-fi access and an affordable restaurant meaning you do not have to leave the comfort of the hotel. ... more   less
