This hotel whilst a little remote has great views and amazing sunsets. The staff are very attentive and nothing is too much. Whilst there may not be a tv in the bar area there are other facilities such as a pool table to keep you entertained. Meals are good and filling.

Stayed for 2 nights in mid October so the weather was a little u predictable, however, the location and views more than made up for a bit of rain. Step out of the hotel and straight onto the beach from the back patio, if relaxing is what you want, then what more could you ask for. The place is very... More

Love this place, first found it in 2003 managed to return in 2016. Views from restaurant over to Jura amazing. Good food, lovely owners and the place is dog friendly. Booked single room and was given a double. Small but clean and everything I needed.

We would not dream of visiting Kintyre without a stay at The Argyll. With family visiting from Canada it was the obvious choice to help them chill. The location is nothing short of spectacular; the food is excellent and Nick, Ian and the team, as always, were attentive and went out of their way to make us feel at home.... More

Visited here a few times in the past and as always a warm welcome in a beautiful part of the world. Wonderful views, right on the beach. Oh, and the food was great too, all freshly prepared and hot. Heaven....

Stayed here while working in the local area. Room very comfortable though tv receiving no signal. Similarly, the wi-fi was flaky although I was forewarned about this by the friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent, well presented and tasty. Lovely to have an array of unusual home-made jams on offer instead of the usual basket of tasteless Duerr jam-pap. Smoked bacon... More

This is our third visit to this gem of a small hotel and we found exactly what we were looking for.... a warm welcome, comfortable accommodation, good food, a location to die for with a beach right in front of us so we could blow away the cobwebs, like minded people and as much peace as we desired. The team... More

This hotel is in a lovely location and the owners and staff are all really friendly. The conservatory restaurant was a lovely place to watch an amazing sunrise the first night and the crashing waves, wind and rain on another night. We ate there each night and the food was good. Particularly loved the 'green' breakfasts - with Ian's own... More

Yes it was great to be back staying at the hotel. Nick,Ian and the staff are top of the list of reasons why we return time and again. The views and service are a bonus. Great scrambled egg second only to my own. Food good and served on time, not like the service we received at a 4 star hotel... More

From arrival to departure a faultless stay. The welcome from the staff & owners was in our opinion exemplary, the breakfast was amazing and the cleanliness of the hotel would put some, so called 4 star hotels to shame.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Argyll Hotel sits on Bellochantuy bay, 10 miles north of Campbeltown on the beautiful Kintyre peninsula. It is a small hotel with eight bedrooms, most boasting sea views of the Atlantic across to the islands of Islay, Jura and Gigha. The conservatory restaurant and lounge area give panoramic views of the ocean and islands too. A great place to chill and relax and of course to eat, with lunches and dinners served daily. Sit on our outdoor terrace and listen to the waves cascading onto the white sandy beach of the curved bay. The terrace leads directly onto the beach where you can walk off your dinner or build up your appetite before dinner. A great place too for children to play or to walk your dog. The hotel dates back to the late eighteenth century when it was built as a coaching inn and has remained as a hotel to this day. Modernised over the years, the hotel still retains the feel of an old west coast hotel with is cosy snug bar, but has the modern conveniences of en suite rooms with TV, free wi-fi access and an affordable restaurant meaning you do not have to leave the comfort of the hotel. ... more   less
