Excellent small hotel, very clean with at tentative staff. Food deals were excellent for two and three courses as was of course the quality of food. Well worth a visit when in Oban. It is off the Main Street but just ask anybody for directions.

The star rating I chose is a wild guess as I am unable to review much with accuracy. The point of this review is to point out that this hotel is changing hands. There has been no REAL ALE available here since last summer.

Stayed here on our way back from Barra. An excellent hotel, as other reviewers have said, "looks can be deceiving." Don't be put off by the exterior of this hotel, once you get to your room, your opinion will dramatically change! The room, second floor, was well appointed and had great views. The little plate of fudge was almost instantly... More

Every review of a hotel has to be seen in the context of its price point. For this trip we needed two single rooms at low cost and there were several choices available in Oban, this being the off-season. We chose the Woodside as a small hotel providing a more personal service. We were not disappointed. The host and hostess... More

Booked ths hotel online at 10.00am before setting off from North Yorkshire after lunch and arrived after 9pm. Pulled up outside and are not overly impressed by the outside of the building. However once inside it is obvious that the owners are trying really hard and have started a refurbishment program me. Our room was clean, warm and had a decent... More

I arrived for a couple of nights-aiming to nip across to Mull for a day - a real last minute thing. Booked this hotel online on the morning before I left Edinburgh for Oban. Brilliant value for money-really comfortable, en suite, room - great (full Scottish - ouch) breaking....what more can I say? Oh, and a couple of very friendly... More

A quiet twin at the front of the hotel. As others have acknowledged before me, the hotel is not auspicious from the outside, but the room was of a good size, with ensuite bathroom, TV and so on. We thought it very good value for 60 pounds per night. The restaurant, The Creel, is also good value. Like others before... More

Came to this hotel for the September weekend break. Husband didn't like the look as we parked outside, but once we got to room, we could see that it was a lot better inside than out. Had dinner at the Creel on the Friday, the steak dinner for 2 plus bottle of wine for £19.99 was brilliant, and cooked to... More

Nice clean hotel. Very friendly owners couldn't be more helpful and accomodating . Well situated for the town. Nice meals served in new addition, The Creel Bar. Small public bar but seemed to be frequented with locals - which is always a good sign

“Not a room tip but a parking one. If you are spending a day on the isles, park in the top end of the station carpark the night before and for three pounds buy a 24-hour pay-and-display ticket. The car park is small and if you leave it till the morning it may be full. The ferry pier is adjacent.”
