Stayed here for a week. Needed a holiday and staycation was the best plan. It is in a great location, on the front. Cannot fault the staff, from reception to the cleaners. Our room was spotless when we arrived. Unfortunately a resident got trapped in the lift, (rescued by a fire engine). - we were on 3rd floor. (78 stairs). Staff really helpful and moved us to a lower floor. We had breakfast there. This is something that should not be missed, it was great, loads to choose from, nothing too much trouble, great value.

We have just returned from three nights bed and breakfast. We booked here as we wanted somewhere central and easy to get into the centre, we booked a junior suite over looking the bay and in all fairness couldn't fault it. I understand when people say its not modern but I think it has character about it. The room was lovely with a spacious corner sitting area looking over the water - We paid £450 BnB , over bank holiday with breakfast it was a excellent value for money rate. Each day a full scottish cooked breakfast was ordered and served to your table and we think it was one of the best hotel breakfast's we have ever had, we ate a evening meal in the evening one night, my husband had steak and I had risotto, again a lovely meal! The staff are brilliant, all trying to please and happy to help you at any time. The only niggle is that we didn't know where the car parking is, they have limited front parking and when we arrived we panicked but we were quickly guided to a big spacious car park at the back We said we would return as the place was fab, lots to do in the area, lovely restaurants and simply a beautiful part of the Scotland Thank you to everyone who made our stay excellent

A once grand hotel on the seafront has seen better days and in my opinion is worthy of only a three star rating. The refurbishment, presumably under the auspices of the current owners, looks cheap and low quality. The rooms have a dull and gloomy, old fashioned appearance and maintenance neglectful. From the makeshift bar to the cheap furniture, it’s all rather downmarket. However, the international staff are wonderful, cheerful and hardworking, especially the delightful Russian lady who dealt with our check in. I stayed in room 51 and mistakenly went to the next door room, having managed to open their door with my key!

Got moved the day before from 4* Muthu Queens hotel to 3* Alexandra hotel for 4 nights may 202 1 for same price, no reduction for less * hotel.. Check in was quick. Room was ready when we arrived at 4.30. Was given corner junior suite over, oozing bay as exchange fir what we had booked at Queen hotel. No sanctitser in bottle beside lift and never refilled during our stay. Despite cleaning available every day room was never hoovered and bath was never cleaned. Bed was made and clean towels, coffee etc replaced every day. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss, staff didn’t know what they were doing and ran around getting nowhere. Food good when you got it but toast cold every day. Had to ask for butter, jam , salt, pepper and milk every day and suitable cutlery. Bar was quiet most nights. Hotel not that busy so felt safe even with covid restrictions. Hotel in very good location, handy for shops, restaurants and walk to Ganavan beach. P,entry parking at rear. Very nice break and friendly staff.
