Stayed here 4 times now, great base when in Oban, fab location. Staff were as usual really friendly and helpful, we arrived early and as our room was ready they let us check in early, we had a sea view room spotlessly clean with everything we needed. Didn’t stay for breakfast as we’d an early start next morning but have had it on previous stays with no complaints. Lots of shops/restaurants and pubs within walking distance from hotel ……our favourite watering hole is the tartan tavern a warm welcome every time. We will definitely stay here again next time.
Morning First of all may i say how friendly and welcoming the whole staff are, the hotel was warm and the rooms clean and warm this was our 3 visit here since nov 2022 and we were her on Sat 28th Jan Now the BIG BUT the Breakfast please get this sorted ( last time in dec this year we did say the Breakfast was cold ) the staff know how many and at what time people are coming for Breakfast , yet again cold Bacon and Sausages lukewarm eggs , they had run out at 9.20 am on a Sunday and when new Bacon etc brought my vet could have got it up and running around looked Raw , also no Croissants etc , but the Breakfast room lady was very pleasant we will be up again at end of Feb start of March and will give you 1 more try re Breakfast , we like the hotel and for what we pay I am not expecting 5 star food but just hot cooked The hotel is well placed for great Restaurants and i say again is clean and warm …
We stayed here as part of a small group tour of the Scottish Highlands. The hotel is well located within walking distance of eateries and bars in Oban. We had a drink at the attached restaurant and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We were lucky enough to have a room facing the bay which gave us a beautiful view of the lights and the water. The room was on the larger side and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was served buffet style, with plenty of options for a cooked or continental breakfast.
Definitely wouldn’t ever stay here again. Very basic room, dirty curtains hanging off window. Woken at 6am by fire alarm, went downstairs and no staff to be seen. Receptionist appears and said “maybe someone used hairdryer too much”. When asked if they will be calling fire brigade to check out the building he said “maybe”. Staff didn’t have a clue how to deal with the situation & brushed it off that there was no fire without any checks and without evacuating the building. Smelled bad everywhere, held my nose everytime I left the room. Each day of our stay there was a new drama going on at reception. Like a faulty towers sketch. A lot of fire doors in the building that are banging loudly at night.
We stayed at The Columba Hotel for 2 nights in November. This proved to be a very disappointing stay. The room was very basic, the bathroom was a particular let-down, the shower on/off lever was an allen bolt screwed in, a couple of cheap plastic disposable water cups still in cellophane and a hand dispenser. The light above the shower did not work. Breakfast on both days was another major disappointment, the cooked breakfast buffet was cold both days, added to this the waiter was rude and abrupt. I have never written a poor review before and am not one to complain at all, but this was such a disappointment. Not recommended at all, and I would never stay there again.
Stayed at the hotel for two nights. Welcomed by the friendly helpful staff. Room was quaint comfortable with everything you needed tea coffee iron iron board trouser press and hairdryer which was not so good get cutting out. Lovely dinner on first night and breakfast was lovely well cooked and hot... Nice view on tge 3rd floor of the McCraig tower. Will defo be back
I loved my stay here for various reasons like friendly staff, great breakfast and budget friendly prices. The rooms were big and well lit and view from my room was also really amazing. All in all, amazing place to stay.
Hotel good room was good view over the pier to ferry port only downside although good choice breakfast was cold but could be that using tinfoil to cover the food on banemaree other wise still value for money.if eating out would reccomend coasters along the road from the columba
Loved this hotel stayed before it was refurbished it’s lovely now. Staff very friendly room cleaned daily overall happy with my stay will definitely be back again. Location is ideal for shops, pubs everything you need really
3 star rating should be zero. Staff unfriendly and quite aggressive. Although the room information said a grab and go breakfast was offered, now not available! However they wanted to charge for breakfast they didn’t offer. 2nd day, did have breakfast which was at best described as very poor. No vegetarian option, scrambled egg looked disgusting. No fresh fruit, very limited offering for a 3 star hotel. Got up at 5.45am to shower before early departure to find no hot water, told we should have done a call at reception, not very helpful, reception staff very defensive, I understand these things happen but no apology and no one at reception to advise. Hotel very dated, not welcoming and frankly not worth anything near what they charge. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.
