Visited recently for a family wedding on a cold and windy day. Welcome inside very warm indeed. Good organisation over all aspects from ceremony to meal. Staff were extremely helpful and efficient. Meal was very good quality and everyone commented how much they enjoyed it. Lots of nice touches in the hotel decor which make it seem more of a...

We came for supper on Valentine's Day having being recommended by a friend. This was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Food was so tasty and beautifully presented. Service was great and we will definitely be back. Thank you

We booked one night as we were attending a funeral in Galashiels. We arrived late after an 8 hr drive. Kitchen was closed but they made us sandwiches to have with our drinks in the bar. Great welcome and great service late in the evening. Room was large, bed very comfortable. Everything we needed was provided. Glad of a tea...

Visited here on Thursday 19th January with a colleague as our last night in Scotland after already being in Scotland for 4 nights already. We arrived after a long journey from west of Glasgow. We were met and shown to our rooms which were idle. We were very hungry and went down to the bar, it was amazing to see...

I stay in a lot of hotels due to my job and mostly they are part of a big chain and whilst very good, all look and feel the same. I love this hotel for two reasons - the first is that it has character and was once and old house and still has that feel around the corridors and...

This is a Victorian baronial mansion with an Edwardian conservatory, set in lawns with views across the River Tweed - very impressive. Don't be put off by the short drive through a modern housing estate to reach the hotel grounds. Our rooms were most comfortable - very roomy, with spacious en suite bathrooms (with bath and shower). All modern conveniences...

One of the best ever meals i've eaten out. As a vegetarian who does not eat dairy most chefs find providing me with a good meal next to impossible but this hotel delivered a superb main course of chestnut and puy lentil stuffed cabbage with french beans and forestiere mushrooms that were so delicious and lots of it. Followed by...

I've stayed here a few times in the last year and my experience has been reliably excellent. The King's Knowse is a beautiful, old building on the edge of a small, modern housing development. The decor is wonderful, the ceilings high and the staff obliging and friendly. The bedrooms are clean, spacious and each one is different - for me...

I'm sad to write this review as this has been a family favourite in the past. The bar and reception rooms are beautiful however the restaurant food was poor pub food at restaurant prices. Large family meal with many courses ordered only 2 were happy with their meals. We didn't want to complain as this would have tarnished the celebration....

A very imposing looking castle nestled away along a quiet street. Staff greeted us in a cheery manner and this service continued throughout the evening whilst serving us. The evening menu gave plenty of choice however this did not detract from the quality which we found to be very good with excellent prices. The decor may be a bit dated...
