We have visited on several occasions - dogs welcome within bar area. 10 out of 10 for service. Jim and his team go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Loads of choice on the menu - quality of food excellent. We will definitely be back!

The was a bit of an odd smell in the place - unclear if it was damp or weird cleaning product. The whole offering is a bit dated, so good if you want to re-live going out in the 1980's. The food was all fresh, and the kids meals were good, but the burger was a bit misguided - just...

Havent been to Murray arms for quiet a few years I know its an old hotel but was shocked at how shabby and run down it looked from the outside. They are in the process of renovations. On entering my bedroom there was an overpowering smell of bleach and cleaning products which had been left by the bathroom sink, the...

Lovely room, lovely food, fantastic wine, helpful staff and a building full of character. We had a lovely stay in this hotel and would definitely go back. Yes the building is old and needs work but the owners are clearly doing a very good job of maintaining it And I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to any...

There were 4 of us out for a birthday meal and thought we would give the place a try as had not been for a meal in the Murray Arms for a number of years. The decor in the dining area was nice enough, the place was very clean and the staff were friendly. We ordered 2 starters to share...

Had a two night break at this hotel last week with my partner and two young children. Was a last minute break. On arriving at hotel it looked really tired on the outside. When we made our way in to reception the first thing you notice is the musty damp smell. We were shown to our room which was in...

Friday evening, popped in for a bar snack on our way home. There was a group in the restaurant, and a couple sat outside, otherwise the place was deserted! The Murray Arms had been recommended to us for its food, which was very good. Menu had good range of choice, and was served promptly and efficiently by five different members...

We went for a meal, but nearly walked out. Starter took 90 minutes to arrive. Don't think we would have got it then if we hadn't reminded them. Talking to another resteraunt patron and locals this is not an isolated incident. They really need to sort out their staffing issues. In fairness we were given some compensation for the problems...

Visited as a party of 6 on Father's Day. Lovely smell of peat on the fire and the open airy and almost homelike feel. Menu was a lovely size, good choice, not a massive tome to trawl through but options to suit all tastes. Kids menu was lovely, not the usual breaded and battered fried affair that some restaurants pass...

8 of my family, visiting the wonderful town of Gatehouse, descended on the Murray Arms. All really hungry, thirsty & in quite high spirits! The staff, the service & the food were second to non. Our waiter, only very young, was so polite & eager to please. He made 4 perfect cappuccinos, 10 out of ten to him!!!!
