Had a bar meal here last night. Started with breaded brie and then pie, chips and peas. It is pie and chips night on a Wednesday. It was a huge portion and definitely for sating an appetite after a long walk in the Galloway Hills. Very tasty and I finished it all, with difficulty. No room for pud though. Great... More

Been to this establishment on a number of occasions whilst staying in the area. Last week I tried the Friday fish special. Fish & chips, peas (mushy or otherwise), bread and tea/coffee. All for just £7.25! Not only was it cheap, but there was also quality and quantity. Staff all friendly and helpful. The best dining experience is in the... More

My wife and I decided to stop off in the beautiful village of Gatehouse of Fleet, to see if we could find somewhere that did Sunday dinners. We noticed that the hotel had an 'A' board advertising a 3 course Sunday dinner for £10. We were a bit dubious because it was so cheap, however we decided to give it... More

Called here on journey from Newton Stewart to Kirkcudbright had excellent meal served by a charming Waitress. The food was very appetising and will definitely be back. I have been several times before and. have found the experience equally pleasant.

My husband and I recently stayed in this hotel for an overnight stay, we were attending an event in the hotel. the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely. They went out their way to help when we needed breakfast a bit earlier than the usual time. Would recommend to others.

We arrived late and the hotel staff were very accommodating and friendly. We also didn't realise what time check out was so they let us have some extra time, free of charge. Breakfast was cooked fresh and how we liked it. The only downside is that the rooms are basic - but this hotel gives you exactly what it advertises... More

We stayed 2 nights here for a mid-week mountain-biking break on the 7Stanes trails (which are superb, by the way). The hotel is what it is - a reasonably-priced, no frills, friendly hotel with a comfortable bar and dining room. We took room 1, situated on the 1st floor at the rear. It was quite spacious although the double bed... More

I have visited the hotel's restaurant several times over the years on mountain biking weekends away with my friends. The steak pie is the best I've had in any restaurant and the portion sizes is the same your granny gave you as a kid. Reasonably priced beer and there's a pool table too :)

If you are in the Gatehouse of Fleet area then for good honest food at very reasonable prices then this is the place to go. Just amazing value for money. Many days they also have a special offer. For example Friday's is Fish & Chips with bread & to follow a pot of tea. All for such a low price... More
