Having eaten here on several occasions previously and been extremely happy with the meals served we decided to try it again as we were on holiday in Eskdalemuir. We were surprised that the meal just lacked that certain something that made it special previously. The drinks (diet coke) were given to us in a tin with a glass we had...

We booked here as we wanted a stopover on the way to Glasgow and as we enjoyed our stay here a couple of years ago decided to return. We were not disappointed. This is a very friendly hotel where the staff are always helpful. The room was OK, clean, and reasonably well furnished. The breakfasts were very good. Dinner was...

My husband and I recently stayed at the Famous Star Hotel in Moffat in the Scottish Borders. The hotel was clean and comfortable with a very good reasonably priced menu, two busy bars and a restaurant. The management and staff could not have been friendlier, very helpful with information and happy to fulfil any reasonable request wherever possible. We went...

We pottered around Moffat visited the famous toffee...

Our stay in the Star Hotel was very good. Our room (8) was situated on the top floor and offered a great view of the surrounding countryside of Southern Scotland. For the price we paid for our overnight stay, we can have no complaints. Our room was clean, fresh and perfect for our short break. The lounge and public bars...

Have just had 2 lovely nights here. Considering it's the narrowest hotel in the world, the room was spacious enough for two of us plus small dog. Warm welcome from family who run it. Stayed on second floor in a pleasant room which was clean tidy and comfortable. Ate here both nights and both times food couldn't be faulted. Steak...

Was on a passing through visit to Moffat and stopped for lunch at the Star. Food is served all day which is always and advantage in my eyes. We were only in the bar but was cosy and we could have sat all day. We both had the fish & chips that comes with peas and tartare sauce and was...
