Location is ok, just a half hour walk to The Blackbird. We stayed in room 1, which is quite small. Bathroom is reasonably sized but the shower unit claustrophobic. On arrival we asked what time breakfast would served the next day as we had to be out of the hotel by 08:00am. Where the owner quipped " Well that means...

Stayed her for one overnight. Attic room with comfy bed and great shower. Friendly owners, very helpful. Bus stop is 5 min walk away with most buses taking you towards centre of Edinburgh in about 15 mins - all day ticket £4 Can't comment on breakfast as we didn't make it down in time - it did smell good though!...

Stayed here the one night as we were attending a wedding. Both members of staff we met were friendly and polite. The room, whilst not huge was adequate and the shower was powerful. Breakfast was very decent and we would definitely stay here again. Not too far to walk into town, or you can taxi/bus it without any difficulty.

We had an overnight stay here as we were going to see Feeder at the Queens Hall, the location was ideal for us as it was within walking distance. The room was a fine size and was en suite, the owners were very friendly and the cooked breakfast was very tasty. I would stay here again if coming through for...

My husband and I stayed at the Mayfield Lodge for one night on September 11th. We arrived a little earlier than the usual check in for a Bed and Breakfast but Klaus was very welcoming and gave us the keys to our room early so we could explore the city for the afternoon and evening. He gave some wonderful recommendations...

Our stay at Mayfield Lodge was excellent. The guesthouse is in a beautiful area and is walking distance to town (or a £8 taxi ride for the lazy). The room was clean and in excellent condition - it also had the best shower in all of Scotland. Breakfast was great too. The owner Klaus was very warm and welcoming (with...

Yet again I stayed at Mayfield Lodge during my trip to Edinburgh. I always feel so welcome here, even though the manager Kenny has left. Greeted warmly by The owners Halla and Claus. My stay was as usual relaxing and most enjoyable. Breakfast was superb and had some lovely chats with some German visitors who where there the third time....

Overpriced B&B. +friendly + good location (on bus route, easy to walk into the city if you wish) -hard bed -leaking roof over spare bed in room (thankfully it was the spare bed and not ours!) -tiny shower -shabby decor Can't comment on breakfast as we never had it.

Stayed here for two nights. The bathroom was small and could hardly fit in the shower. The stairs are not the best either. On the second night out room started to have a water leak. Although the owners were very sympathetic and discounted our bill. The B and B was okay, but could be better value for money.
