Recently stayed two nights at Capital View apartments. The service relating to bookings and communcation was excellent. The apartment is conveniently situated right in town with a five minute walk from Waverley Railway Station and close to everything. The apartment itself was very modern and spacious, if a touch noisy at night but should expect that for the convenience of...

This accommodation has a great location, amazing views over the city, really nice and clean rooms and a great bed with a fluffy comforter. Unfortunately, this place also has sound proofing of a tent. We stayed in an 8th floor apartment over the Halloween weekend. We woke up several times during the night to the shouting of partying people and...

We stayed 3 nights, on our first visit to the city. The apartment itself was lovely, warm and comfortable, as described in previous reviews. The bed was very comfortable. Decor was light and fresh. Bathroom with shower was all new, and the compact kitchen was very functional--there was even a dishwasher. We did not meet the owners, but all communications...

We stayed for 3 nights in Apartment B. The apartment could not have been more central being only minutes from the Royal Mile, the railway station and main shopping centre. Our host Jill was outstanding in her support to make our visit to Edinburgh and Scotland a highlight. Always prompt and helpful. The apartment was clean, well equipped and great...

We stayed here for 2 nights. The apartment had everything we needed, was clean, warm and comfortable. The views were stunning. The location was excellent for the shopping centres and the Royal Mile and the museums. The cost to stay was such good value we had expected that something would be wrong with it, but it exceeded all our expectations....

This apartment was more than we anticipated. Firstly it couldn't be any more central for both shopping and entertainment. Literally a 2-3 minute from Princess Street and less to the Royal Mile. We stayed here for the fringe and certainly enjoyed. The apartment had everything we could have needed. Was spotless and well maintained, so much so that we have...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
