I stayed here for a weekend and it was warm, cosy, modern, clean and quiet. It felt like staying at a friend’s house. John was very friendly and couldn't do enough to help. The location is a few minutes from some lovely restaurants, 20 minutes from Waverley station and 15 minutes from the sites and castle. Tram 10 minutes away...

Stayed here for valentines weekend with the girlfriend, the B&B was everything you wanted from a guests house - cosy, friendly and modern. 5 minute taxi ride to the station and middle of town, tram access and bus access also close by. John couldn't do enough for you - his breakfasts are superb!.You are given the freedom to explore, come...

Thank you for your kind review Will; I'm glad you both enjoyed your romantic weekend in Edinburgh, even if it was amongst hordes of jubilant Welsh rugby fans :). I'm particularly pleased you appreciated our green approach. I try not to make a big deal out of it so it's always good to get some positive feedback. Cheers John

Warm, comfortable stay. Good access to places to eat and also places to visit, galleries, Botanic Garden, Leith Walk etc. We walked from Waverley station on arrival; the tram is even nearer. This was our second visit, each time it was just what we wanted - quiet, yet next to all the things that make Edinburgh special.

A warm, friendly welcome from John, and an excellent breakfast - particularly the home-baked Morning Glory breakfast cake. A very clean, spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated room - excellent bed. Quiet, yet convenient to central Edinburgh. Just a 20 minute walk from Waverley Station, 12min from the York Place tram stop. All in all, it was like staying with friends...

The B&B is simply flawless: good location (15-20 minutes walk to the main City attractions) well served by public trasportation; environment is very quite, even in the room adjacent to the road. Rooms are large, bed is comfortable, bathroom has everything you need. Everything is very clean and tidy. What about the breakfast? The standard one is abundant with toasts,...

I stayed at McCrae's B&B during the Fringe Festival in August 2014 with my sister and her grown daughter. The room was lovely and spacious, the food was delicious (best haggis!), and the door lock combination setup was very convenient. John was a great host and I would love to stay there again if I am so fortunate to return...

I stayed at McCraes for two nights and enjoyed my stay very much! John was the perfect host - very friendly, explained me everything about the room and prepared a delicious breakfast in the morning (great coffee/tea, cereals, fruits, joghurt, toast, jam...). The room was very nice and modern and clean, of course - so was the bathroom. The bed...

We stayed 3 nights in October. The location of the B&B was perfect for us. Just 15-20 minutes on foot to the centre. The room was very clean and comfortable. John the host was good organized and very friendly. His tips for our trip to the seaside of Edingburgh were great! We`ll come again! Sofia B.

Stayed here for 5 nights in September. We called McCrae's home while we enjoyed Edinburgh and the surrounding area. We found the beds and pillows very comfortable. A verity of teas and a kettle were provided in the room so each night I had 'sleepytime' tea before retiring. Great. Free wifi was provided and worked well. John asked us to...

We stayed at the McCraes´s for two nights. It´s perfectly located in a residential area. In the direct neighborhood are plenty of nice restaurants. You can just stroll around and you will find an inviting place. We enjoyed that it was not as touristic as old and new town. For joining the tourist crowed, York Place is easy to reach...
