All the staff were friendly (except for Carol, who always seemed like she was being disturbed). We stored our luggage at reception, the early check-in was pointless because the previous guests hadn't checked out by 12pm and the room hadn't been cleaned yet. The room itself was on the 2nd floor on the corner with a view of Princess Street all the way to Scotts Monument. The view would have been even more fantastic if someone had cleaned the windows. Street noise was clearly audible, but that didn't bother us. The room was clean, the bathroom was fine except for the missing toilet brush, which you weren't allowed to have in the bathroom for "hygienic reasons"... We were always supposed to call if we needed cleaning. After the first time, a brush was left in the room. That was a bit strange.
When booking breakfast, it was not clear to us that there was no breakfast room. Instead, you get a breakfast to go in a cardboard box, consisting of cereal, milk, apple juice, a small cereal bar and a chocolate bun (see photo). The price-performance ratio was not right here, so we cancelled breakfast for the following day.

Vending machine in lobby wasn’t working so nowhere to get a bottle of water, there were people asleep in the lobby in the morning which didn’t look good at all.
As we were so disappointed that we checked out after 1 night and when doing so the Receptionist did nothing to try and appease us.
Booking was very simple on the website. Check in was very quick. Staff were really polite, friendly and welcoming. My room was in the basement, Lower ground 3. Room was clean, a nice size with plenty of towels. Shower worked well and the bed was comfortable.
Slight negatives - the room was very warm. The windows were open but the heating was on very high. I had to turn the radiator off but even then it was very warm and made sleeping uncomfortable. The other point is the room and hallway outside were a little bit tired. Clean but tired and could do with a little spruce up.
All in all a lovely stay!! Thanks to all staff.
Shops and restaurants close by and walking distance to all the sights.
I would highly recommend this Travelodge and give a big thank you to Mr T and the other staff who made me so welcome.
Rooms are basic. They really beed more storage space and plug sockets.
Lights are a bit dim.
Bathroom small but usable.
Fluffy towels.
Extra pillows.
However, the floorboards are very creaky.i feel sorry for whoever was under us.
Room wasn't cleaned well, I had to ask for the floor to be hoovered again (which I'm not convinced it was done).
If you want clean towels or rubbish changing you are asked to leave them outside the room before 11am.
Did this but towels where not replaced and rubbish not taken.
One night a rancid drain smell came from the bathroom. After running all the taps for a while it dispersed slightly but not completely.
For a city centre it's first value but it is basic.
Nobody at reception on check in - just a placard giving a phone number to contact somebody to check us in
No luggage storage - the only solution was to pay £10 for early check in. This was after paying £149.99 a night for a mediocre room (booked to attend Tattoo which was cancelled in 2020 then again in 2021. We could only transfer the booking once so had no choice )
Tiny room with small window letting in very little daylight. The supplied lighting was appalling with 2 dim ceiling lights and 2 tiny bedside lights.
Despite paying for 3 adults the second bed was a very firm, narrow roll away, full length but only only about 2'6" wide. It was placed under the wardrobe rendering it unusable (as is usual in Travelodge, it's only a shelf with hangers dangling below)
We didn't bother with the breakfast box, preferring to eat at one of the many local restaurants......We ate at the Booking Office and The Standing Order)
Clean bathroom with powerful, hot shower. Curtain sticks to body though.
We wouldn't recommend this hotel with so many cheap and better alternatives in the area
