This Travelodge is in a perfect location being close to the station and easy stroll to both old and new towns. However, this is the only upside.
Nobody at reception on check in - just a placard giving a phone number to contact somebody to check us in
No luggage storage - the only solution was to pay £10 for early check in. This was after paying £149.99 a night for a mediocre room (booked to attend Tattoo which was cancelled in 2020 then again in 2021. We could only transfer the booking once so had no choice )
Tiny room with small window letting in very little daylight. The supplied lighting was appalling with 2 dim ceiling lights and 2 tiny bedside lights.
Despite paying for 3 adults the second bed was a very firm, narrow roll away, full length but only only about 2'6" wide. It was placed under the wardrobe rendering it unusable (as is usual in Travelodge, it's only a shelf with hangers dangling below)
We didn't bother with the breakfast box, preferring to eat at one of the many local restaurants......We ate at the Booking Office and The Standing Order)
Clean bathroom with powerful, hot shower. Curtain sticks to body though.
We wouldn't recommend this hotel with so many cheap and better alternatives in the area

All the ingredients are here for a good stay - such a convenient location on the doorstep of Princes Street and Waverley railway station being the main ones. You walk in to a bright reception area with cheery welcoming staff. You use well presented lifts and walk along well maintained corridors into your well cared for room. However, if that room is front facing during the day you'll be aware of traffic noise. By bedtime this thankfully has subsided such as to allow an unbroken nights sleep. The bathroom was disappointing as there was an ever present acrid smell from the WC and during my 2 night stay in only ONCE managed to get hot water from the washbasin - rest of the time it was tepid. The shower however was spot on. Portable fans are provided in rooms to compensate for the lack of air conditioning and housekeeping leave room curtains shut to aid the situation in warm weather.

As far as travel lodges go this Travel Lodge was a great place to stay. A friendly welcome on arrival by the staff on reception. They explained the restrictions in place due to COVID but helpfully advised us to ask for anything we needed such as fresh towels or more tea/coffee etc. We were put on the Business (quieter) floor which was very kind as we hadn’t booked for it. The room was small & clean. Just what you expect from a travel lodge. We stayed 2 nights over Friday & Saturday for a total of £58!! Central location, near to train station, shops and restaurants. Just perfect!

With a central location, it was perfect for popping back a couple of times during the day when needed. It was also surprisingly quiet during my stay and I didn't hear any internal or external noise during the night. Clean, comfortable and great value for money.

The hotel is in a great location - nothing was more than a 20 minute walk away, and also had great access to public transport.
The room itself was standard with clean towels provided and tea/coffee and sugar etc provided.
My only concerns were that there was a smell when we initially walked in - not completely offensive, but not good either. Thankfully on the second day it was gone. In the bathroom, the shower, sink and toilet were all clean but the floor was a bit dirty.
However, considering we were only there for two nights/three days it was fine. We didn’t spend much time there and it was extremely well priced!

For our last night we chose this hotel located at the end of Princess Street and quick access to the Royal Mile. Room was correct. We recommend you to book a room on the 3rd floor (no street noise). Glasses were missing, and we had to ask to the reception desk (its not always manned) for additional tea bags and sugar which was kindly given to us.

I stayed overnight whilst visiting Edinburgh and I couldn’t really ask for more from a city centre hotel for the price I paid. Fantastic location, a few minutes from Waverly, bus stops and tram stops to and from the airport (£9 open return, fantastic frequent service). Sainsburys local 5-10 minutes away, newsagent on the doorstep and a lovely cafe bar (take away only at the minute) called rabbies opposite (open 7.30ish, even on a Sunday so great for brekkie to take back to the room).
We paid for early check in and we even managed to get into the room about half hour earlier which was great. Room was compact but with lovely high ceilings. As others have mentioned, it’s situated on a main road but I heard very little noise and slept well in the comfy bed. The lady who checked us in was great :)
There was hand wash and shower gel provided along with towels. Was lacking a bath mat though, which I would’ve liked but not a big deal. Kettle, mugs, tea / coffee in the room too. Couldn’t fault the cleanliness of the room or the hotel as a whole.
Whilst visiting Edinburgh I visited the zoo (easy on the bus from the hotel) castle (easy on foot but uphill of course!) and did the ghost bus tour. All of which I recommend. I would definitely stay here again, very close to all attractions yet away enough to have a little bit of quiet.

Room faces the main road therefore makes for a poor sleep due to the volume of traffic. Floorboards are so so squeaky thought we were in a haunted house (Munsters came to mind 😉) Very clean room. Due to Covid they cannot enter your room and this means you have to request clean towels etc.

We have stayed here many times and always come back. Excellent location for the train station and Princes Street. Good hot shower and comfy bed.
We were checked in by the wonderful Fiona who informed us that building work was going on and offered to move us if this was a problem. We always like to stay in the same room so we stayed put.The workmen were obliging and moved steps etc if we needed to pass and we were amazed at how quiet they were.
All the reception staff and cleaning staff we were came in contact with always greeted with a cheery hello.

Booked 2 nights last minute. Great prices and location. Allows pets too however standard charge for pets i feel should be dropped just now as the reason for it is for a deep clean. There should be deep cleaning as standard just now due to COVID19. Lack of sockets, especially at mirror for woman doing their hair. Staff very helpful and friendly. Towels HUGE and fluffy. Toilet very low. Parking available for disabled drivers, this could be added to hotel information on website.
