We stayed at The Bonham for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay in Edinburgh. The majority of the reviews speak very highly of the hotel but I do think there is definitely room for improvement. On arrival it smelt damp and musty. The carpet in the reception, staircase and hallways were worn and the walls in our bedroom could have...

I had a delightful stay here one night on business to Edinburgh. The room was clean and modern through renovation and the whole facility looked well maintained. The staff was attentive and a pleasure to work with. Parking is tough and it isn't very well marked from the street if you are driving yourself, but I would stay here again...

Stayed here as part of an itison deal. All in all excellent value. £139 for a 3 course dinner for 2, breakfast, bottle of prosecco and a late checkout. Room was very big. Dinner a bit pretentious. Style over substance. Small portions. However the cost of our food was upwards of £50 so can't complain. Breakfast was excellent and served...

My oldest and bestest friend and I stayed here for a weekend to celebrate a century of life (combined ages!!) and it was the perfect choice. We are both from Edinburgh but don't live there any more and specifically wanted to stay somewhere in a familiar part of town with views to the west of Edinburgh where we grew up....

Situated in the heart of Edinburgh the Bonham Hotel is a stunningly beautiful hotel with loads of charm and sophistication. We stayed here on Saturday the 11th of October and were so impressed by the way the staff looked after our needs. Our room was on the third floor looking out towards the Forth and Leith which was breath-taking. We...

We visit Edinburgh a few times a year, and always stay at the Bonham. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is the best ever in a hotel -- worldwide! The continental portion has better croissants and chocolate croissants than France. There are also meats, cheese, cereals, and salmon. Following this is...

My friend and I visited Edinburgh and stayed at the Bonham hotel from 3rd to 5th October 2014 as it was my birthday. On arrival we were greeted by welcoming staff and sparkling wine. The Bonham is a gem of a hotel. Excellent location to the main sites, very comfortable twin room (No.203), superb breakfast, helpful and friendly staff. The...

Just returned from 2 nights in Edinburgh staying at the Bonham. My 3rd stay over a number of years and this hotel did not disappoint. In Edinburgh's West End it is walking distance to Princes St and you can easily reach the airport via bus, monorail or car. We stayed in a room that included a sitting room and this...

While I'm sure the hotel is fantastic, we did not get to see it. We were called on the morning of the stay and advised that we were double booked. The duty manager had decided to cancel our stay over another customer, despite us having booked a full 3 months in advance. They arranged for another hotel for us which...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
