We stayed 2 nights and found the service friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable with a super bathroom. I was initially concerned that it wasn't central but it's an easy 5 minute walk into the centre of the city. The breakfast was great. We didn't have dinner so can't comment on the restaurant. The only negative thing about...

We had an Itison voucher for a chateaubriand and bottle of wine between 2. It would be hard to find fault with this, both for value and quality. Given that Edinburgh was in full Festival frenzy, the restaurant at the Bonham was a haven of peace and excellent service. The steak was superb and the wine better than average. We've...

Great historic town house in EDI, fully modernise, with huge rooms and good restaurant. Have been using the Bonham for a few months, when available. It has become my preferred hotel for EDI business trip. Quiet, comfortable, very spacious. Can't go wrong.

Not my regular hotel in Edinburgh where I stay a lot as its a fair hike into the city. The hotel is a mix of new and old rooms in a converted building on the Leith basin. The staff were exceptionally helpful in accommodating me in swapping rooms (ask for one on the estuary side if you are a light...

We stayed over new year with a package that included dinner and a ticket to the street party. The hotel and the room was great, very quiet with spotless rooms. The food was good too, but some of the staff were new to the job and it may have made our stay perfect once they were up to speed.its not cheap...

I took my mum here for her birthday and we LOVED It. It is gorgeously decorated - it is new, clean, classic and stylish. The service was outstanding and all the staff were so kind and helpful. They suggested a number of delicious restaurants we visited over our long weekend and gave my mum a free glass of bubbly to...

The Bonham is very well located being in a very quiet Georgian square but within walking distance of Princes street and Modern galleries to the west. The reception and dinning areas are well decorated. The main staircases are impressive but rather empty of decoration. The room i had was large for a room described as "petite" although its a lottery...

Just stayed here for 2 nights and it was the best hotel we've stayed at in Edinburgh, so much so we signed up to a loyalty card & will revisit for our annual Fringe trip! The room was spacious, well laid out & a nice big bathroom. It was quite warm but you can get over that as the building...

Spent 2 nights here. Our room was downstairs overlooking the carpark! We had booked a 'petite double.' It WAS compact but had all you needed if just looking for a base while sight seeing. Very comfortable 5ft bed, 2 arm chairs, big flat screen tv, free wifi, wardrobe etc. The bathroom was lovely and spacious. Bath and shower (shower did...

Stayed over the first weekend of the Tattoo and Fringe Festival. Big rooms, amazingly comfortable beds with lovely linen, very quiet whilst only a 5 minute walk into the heart of the city. The staff were welcoming and helpful, good breakfasts and very reasonably priced for that time of year in Edinburgh. We will definitely be visiting again.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
