Great Locations - maybe a little tired but can be forgiven due to being right on the doorstep of a wonderful city. Check in seamless. Was strange that you had to enter another part of the hotel because check in closed and the restaurant only open for Christmas functions but it didn't affect us but did hear a group complain....

Good location, close to the station & easy walking to most attractions. The reception area looks lovely but the rooms are poor & a refurbishment is well overdue. We only stayed one night & were glad to leave. It's the worst nights sleep I've had in ages. The bed & pillows were like concrete & the bathroom was cleanish but...

first of all the location is fantastic, at the bottom of the royal mile and only a few minutes walk to the new town and princes street. Cant fault this. Paid extra for a city view room which was nice and high on the top floor (7th I think). Unfortunately the reception area gives a false impression of this hotel...

Overall our stay was ok-ish... we stay for Christmas time, the room was nice, big enough but not very clean; the shampoo and showe gel were half empty, the carpet wasn't hoovered before we came so after the first night, when we went out I asked reception to sent someone to tidy up the room and hoover but they didn't....

Two minute walk from Waverley station, check in seamless, very polite & pleasant staff. Room very good, had all you'd expect from a Jurys, clean although the bathroom is maybe a little tired. Good nights sleep though. Buffet breakfast more than adequate, if i had one little gripe though it's the coffee's not that great.... sorry. Overall though a nice...

On a business travel for few days. The room is big and clean. Breakfast was impressive. Staff were cordial. Heating system control could have been much better. When I come again to Edinburgh, will stay again. :-) Tips: Dont stay on the side facing road. You will find it noisy for most of the night.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
