Excellent central location; 3 minutes walk from station, 3 minutes walk to Royal Mile, 8 minutes walk to Princes Street. Super staff especially front of house and Sylvia in the restaurant. Good size clean room although bath a bit small; shower super. Comprehensive breakfast choices. Varied bar and restaurant menu, the latter very good value, with large portions.

The hotel is in a great location, great distance from the Castle and both the old and new town. The hotel is good value and with a buffet breakfast it is certainly somewhere that you can ear well and then head out for a day exploring the city.

Good location for pubs and castle. Hotel battered and old fashioned. In need of a refurb. We were in room 113. If the window was open we couldn't sleep for the traffic noise. I stay in hotels at least twice a month and this is one of the poorest. The cleanliness of the room was poor so we didn't eat...

We arrived for a 2 night stay and the first room, and the room was disgusting and looked like it hadnt been cleaned for weeks. Was moved rooms and again the room was only slightly cleaner. The only posititive is that it is near the station.

Overall can't complain because we paid £20.16 for the room on a promotional campaign in January. However, we did check the full price (had we paid the usual rate) and we would have been very disappointed if we had paid full price. The room was very dated compared to all the other Jury's Inn we stay in in other city's....

Location is great, service is good, nice breakfast ... but I just wish they would spend some money doing the rooms up. Looking very tired and dated and doesn't help when one of the toilet hinges is broken and bottom of shower all chipped. Shame because it could be so much better.

All was well with the stay and good value for money. Had read previous reviews and think them a little harsh. Reception staff were very welcoming, bedroom, though clean, was tired. Hotel menu looked good.

Very basic room for the amount we paid, noisy outside (there were tramps who sleep outside the hotel) and the bed was uncomfortable. It was in a central location but I'd recommend the local travelodge if you want cheap or somewhere else if you expect nice quality.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
