It was a lovely weekend rooms little dated but was perfect for our needs. Breakfast on the Saturday not great eggs were hard and bacon very well done. I do like crispy bacon but not that much. Sunday breakfast was lovely though everything cooked perfect. Hubby even had seconds! If you are just looking for somewhere to have a weekend...

Had a really nice view of the city out of our room, however our friend had a 'back viewing room' and it was just a wall, didnt make the...

Stsyed here with a friend in a room with a double and single bed. Not a bad sized room. Nice bathroon with toiletries provided. Room had a hairdryer and iron in it too. The room was clean and had tea and coffee. Slept well and even the single bed was comfortable. They really need to get bigger sheets for the...

Ideally situated hotel, steps leading from hotel to main street to walk up to the castle etc. Booked a room expecting a twin but was a double, tried to move rooms but the hotel was fully booked. Went out, came back and the hotel staff had put a third bed in the room, what a lovely gesture, and very comfy....

Five of us travelled and stayed in the jury's Inn at the start of march 2016 for 5 nights as a family trip for my mother's birthday. The hotel was amazing from the staff to the location and the food was unbelievable. Before our trip we read the comments/reviews about the hotel and we're a bit hesitant about booking but...

When we decided to have a city break in Edinburgh we took the advice of a number of friends who had recommended Jury's Inn and we were glad we did. It is in an ideal location next to the railway station and a short walk to the Royal Mile. Our room was not huge but ideal for the three nights...

I was visiting Edinburgh for a reunion with former student colleagues and sharing a room with 2 friends. As we wanted 3 single beds we had a room at the back; it was large, clean, the beds were comfortable but pillows a bit hard. Sadly there were some weird plumbing noises within the rear of the building every morning at...

Rooms very old worn and tired looking. Carpet nearly worn through in bedroom. Mould In bathroom well below par I'd say. Good location and very friendly staff. The poor decor really lets this hotel down.

Got off to a rough start having received a noisy room location (room 232 is situated just above street level over an alley that is popular with the smokers that are enjoying the bar downstairs, there is also a large ventilation fan just below the window so unfortunately at the weekend you can expect a lot of noise until the...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
