This is our second time here. We chose it again because it was a good experience before. The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. We ate a very good evening meal in the restaurant. It is very handy for the Royal Mile. The room was comfortable which is what we expect from a Travelodge. I can certainly recommend this...

Me and mum stayed in the Edinburgh Central Travelodge for the weekend to do some sightseeing. The hotel was in a brilliant location, just round the corner from the royal mile and a very short walk to the castle and other sights. We spent the evenings in the Worlds End pub just round the corner, live music and a friendly...

Value for Money stay at a City Centre Hotel. It was as expected. Standards have improved over the last few years. Couple of minor points bathroom door handle loose (312), one day no Tomatoes at Breakfast, Breakfast OK - some things like the mushrooms a little dry under the lights after being stood a while, and a bit noisy in...

Your typical Travelodge hotel. It is on a street that leads off from the Royal Mile. Very conveniently located in terms of access to key transport areas - few minutes from the North/South Bridge with a host of buses coming your way. A 5 minutes walk away from the Waverley station. And walking distance to the university of Edinburgh and...

Cheeky night away. Third time we've stayed here and it's never disappointed. Paid the extra for WiFi and was totally worth it. Breakfast was worth the money too. The only downside was the £17 parking charge, maybe look at free car parking?

Stayed here for one night with my parents, and thought it was ideal; obviously this is a Travelodge so don't come here expecting 5* quality. The location was great, right by the Royal Mile and was a great base for exploring. Room was clean and tidy, great shower and the breakfast which we had included was a buffet and filled...

Stayed here for two nights during a city break to Edinburgh. In a good location close to Arthur's seat. Clean and the facilities you'd expect from a travelodge. Could have done with more towels and the room was a bit noisy but fine for the money paid!

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
