From the moment we arrived at Prestonfield House, the service was nothing short of impeccable. We stayed in the Winston Churchill Suite, which was stunning—luxurious, spacious, and beautifully appointed with every detail carefully considered.
The valet parking was seamless, and the attentive staff made us feel truly special throughout our stay. Every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience.
The food was absolutely amazing, with every dish cooked to perfection and presented with flair. Dining here felt like a true occasion.
Truly dog friendly, 3 Peaks beds in the room and dog bowls, we were even offered for the dogs to dine with us, which was great but we declined so we could relax and enjoy our dinner and breakfast. Plus there was no charge for the dogs! Sometimes you can pay ÂŁ35 per dog per night at other 5* Hotels.
Prestonfield House is the epitome of elegance and top-tier hospitality. We can’t recommend it highly enough and can’t wait to return for another fabulous stay!

From start to finish we had a wonderful time. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The room was luxurious and plush, in keeping with the age/atmosphere of the house. The little treats in the room were delicious. Well stocked mini bar and tea/coffee station. The receptionist was perceptive to our needs when showing us around our room which prevented a possible issue. The dining rooms were well presented with comfortable seating and some tables with lovely views of the grounds. Loved the individual drawing rooms for relaxing with a coffee or drinks. Even the resident cat was friendly, joining us in the Whisky Room. Don't blame him as the roaring fire was so inviting along with the comfortable couches. The ambience and aroma throughout was lovely, especially the array of Hyacinths as you walk through the main door. Highly recommend for any occasion but especially for special occasions. It's certainly spoiled us for the start of our 40th year together.

We stayed two nights at the beautiful Prestonfield Hotel for my husband’s birthday. The hotel is set in its own acres of grounds, which feel in the heart of rural Scotland, yet is only minutes away from centre of Edinburgh. The decor was really stunning with great attention to detail, most definitely the most interesting hotel I’ve stayed in. The room was also gorgeous with an enormous bed and immaculate bathroom and nothing was too hot or cold but wonderfully quiet and peaceful, even with the window open. The staff were all so efficient and genuinely warm and friendly. Both evenings we enjoyed eating in the Rhubarb dining room with full afternoon tea one evening and a delicious three course dinner the second. Breakfast was also a feast with a huge array of choices and full waiting service. We really couldn’t fault our time here and would both highly recommend Prestonfield - we wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Night away with my husband without our kids in a long, long time and we could not fault this hotel. It started with one of the doormen coming to our car with an umbrella as it was raining. We didn’t expect this and it was just a nice touch. We were greeted with a fantastic wizardry entrance to the hotel then in to staff who were attentive from the minute our feet touched the wool carpets to the minute we left. Beautiful suite, hotel and gardens, excellent service from start to finish and the breakfast was to die for. We will be back with kids in tow the next time. We have stayed at numerous “5 star” hotels in Scotland and further afield but this stay went above and beyond anything we had experienced before. Well done Prestonfield 👏

We had a fabulous dinner on 1 June, it helped that the weather was lovely and warm!
Setting: gorgeous setting with view of Arthur's Seat, and incredible interiors (including the washrooms!.
Staff and service: excellent. The team members strike a perfect balance between over-formality and over-familiarity (something that is sadly hard to find these days) and are excellent ambassadors for the hotel. In particular, the two gentlemen at the concierge desk at the front entrance were efficient, professional, and welcoming. The service in the dining room was seamless, neither hurried not too leisurely, which contributed to a relaxed and enjoyable evening.
Dinner: we ordered sea trout and crab, followed by Scotch fillet steak and lamb loin, and finished with the Scottish cheeses and the orange and Drambuie tiramisu. Overall, we were delighted by the preparation (beef perfectly rare), the flavours, and the quality of the ingredients, with a special mention for the sea trout and the tiramisu.
Drinks: we only had a glass of champagne to start (water with the meal), top marks for the house champagne, we were delighted by its crispness, without the acidity that can detract from the pleasure of a champagne aperitif. We also admired, but without trying, the extensive and creative list of dessert wines and digestifs – we will definitely sample these next time!
Really excellent evening !

So I’ve been here before and had the afternoon tea before too. This time round I opted for the champagne afternoon tea with my partner.
Booking was pretty simple and was able to do this online the same day. A card is required to secure your reservation, I’m presuming that’s so your charged if you don’t show up, not sure why. I don’t remember doing this before however it’s not an issue.
This venue is excellent for the Covid conscious following regulations. There is hand sanitiser everywhere as well as tables spaced far apart from each other, while still being cosy! There’s nothing to worry about here.
Staff are very attentive although we seem to have a nervous guy who was possibly new? He was friendly and checked in every 15/20 minutes I only noticed as his hand was shaking a little when moving the saucers to the table from the tray. I wish I got his name as he was excellent and friendly.
There was also a second member of staff who constantly replaced the firewood in the fireplace I did try to start a short conversation just asking how many times he has to do that, but he didn’t seem to want to talk. Actually more like he wasn’t allowed? Maybe it was just unexpected for me to ask? He answered my question and then wished me a pleasant evening.
Sandwiches and cakes were great and so we’re the pots of tea. We shared a afternoon tea between us each with a pot and additional glass of champagne.
The whole experience was nice from them accommodating my request to be in the leather room to sit in front of the fireplace. It’s always super clean and everyone is always friendly.
I’ll be definitely coming back at some point yet again and I would highly recommend the afternoon tea.
I will say that it’s not the cheapest for afternoon tea however you pay for the service and the atmosphere and the venue and grounds are immaculate. If you get the chance to go here don’t miss it.

Absolutely wonderful stay at Prestonfield House. Everything was beautiful and of high quality, the decadent dramatic furnishings, the food and all the little extra touches in the room which made it even more special. We had afternoon tea on the day of our arrival which was delicious and presented beautifully. Breakfast was really lovely, especially the eggs benedict, with my eggs cooked to perfection. All the staff were extremely attentive, friendly and polite. Nothing was too much trouble to make our stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Luckily we had good weather, so it was nice to have a walk in the grounds and visit the friendly highland cattle! If youre looking for a hotel which is something a bit special and different from the usual, then I'd highly recommend a stay here. We can't wait to return next year.

We have been frequent visitors to The Prestonfield over the years (anniversaries, birthdays, afternoon tea, etc), and it was lovely to back for a 1-night stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary (we actually got engaged here so always nice to return). As we walked from the car park we were immediately met by staff offering to take our luggage and, by the time we got our room, it was there waiting for us. A really nice first impression. Checked in by the lovely Jennie who was friendly and professional, giving us just the right amount of information about the hotel, our reservation, etc. The room was absolutely stunning. Decadent velvet wallpaper and rich red furnishings set the tone for an old school experience, mixed with all the modern touches you would expect. All spotlessly clean. Dinner was in the Salon Privee (private dining for two), and it was exceptional. Great service and amazing food, all in beautiful surroundings with a gorgeous view over to the stable block. Breakfast was in the restaurant Rhubarb and again, everything was perfect. Lovely, relaxed atmosphere, with absolutely no rush to work our way through the menu of pastries, cereals, toast, cooked breakfast, fresh juices and coffees. All delicious and well presented. Service was exemplary, again. All in all, a perfect stay in stunning surroundings and we look forward to our next visit. Thanks to all.

My wife and I had stayed the year previous and were excited to return. We also brought our pup.
On arrival we were warmly greeted by the door / reception staff, who offered to assist with our luggage. They were extremely friendly and made the dog feel welcome.
We were quickly shown to our fantastic room, which is always a delight. The style and attention to detail are un matched in Edinburgh. We had a bottle of complimentary champage, truffles, fruit and cookies awaiting us on our arrival.
Prior to dinner we had a couple of cocktails in the upstairs lounge area. The fire blazing and the gothic style furniture really sets the place apart. Cocktails were lovely and hit the spot.
Dinner was also fantastic and everything from starter to dessert was expertly prepared and flavourful.
We had a fantastic nights sleep and even managed to stream some of our fav viewing to the TV from our phones which was a real plus.
We went for a quick stroll with the dog around the grounds before breakfast and its really astounding how close you are to the hustle of the city, but conversly feel like your out in the country. The dog loved saying hello to the resident coo’s.
Breakfast was put together with the same attentiveness as dinner, with a fantastic offering of breakfast fayre.
The thing that topped the stay off for us, was the service. We have stayed at a number of five star accomodations, but this is right up there as one of the best. Staff were all approachable, friendly and above all had your comfort at the heart of everything they did.
Thanks again.

My wife and I recently stayed at Prestonfield for a work Christmas party. We stayed in the hotel and then went across to The Stables (large event building on the property) for their winter wonderland Christmas event. Overall my wife and had an very good stay there and would defo go back. Jennie at reception was very polite, helpful and friendly throughout our stay and made us feel at home. The food we at was good and our room was spacious, comfortable and had really nice little touches like locally made chocolates, a bottle of champagne and nice smelling incense. The Christmas even we went to was well run, the food all came out piping hot and was good. Serving 350 guests is a tough job and they did it very well. They also catered to my wifes difficult onion allergies, which we appreciated greatly.
My only comments of constructive criticism were that the hotel felt very booked up, so when we were looking for or trying to find an area or room to sit and chill in, or get some food it was sometimes difficult. I appreciate this to be the case for a non 5 star hotel, but for a 5 star I felt it shouldn't happen.
Thanks very much to the whole team, we will defo like to visit again and have a weekend with you :)
